I liked Dark World too, although I think I've only seen it once and I know when I watched the CinemaSins video for it they made it look awful, so who knows if I'd still like it upon rewatch. I think I would.

I think it's far better than the first Thor film (Natural eyebrows for a start...) but I appear to be in the minority. End of the day though, Ragnarok is the best by far. ;)

Bracing myself for Brum telling me how bad he thinks this movie is...

Ant-Man
This movie puts the rest of the movies so far to shame. It makes the other movies look like crap in comparison (they aren't - this movie is just really good). This movie is funny, it had a great plot, and lots of action. It balanced these well. The Ant-Man vs Yellowjacket fight scene in the bedroom looks amazing and was entertaining throughout the whole fight. In fact, for the first time, I wanted the fight scene to last longer than it did.

Also, 10/10 for using real ant species and for the Tardigrade cameo. This movie gets an 1000000/10.

I think it's interesting that you loved Ant-Man and thought it was funny, but you didn't like Guardians of the Galaxy? I think both GotG movies have far better dialogue and one-liners than Ant-Man, and Chris Pratt seemed to fit the role of charismatic wise-cracking criminal vastly better than Paul Rudd.

It's been interesting reading your reviews while I'm going through the Marvel films myself @birdsandbats; personally I think this opposite preference of Ant-Man over GotG is my biggest disagreement with your reviews so far (though you thinking IM3 is the best Iron Man film is a close second :p)

Yes, I did know that in actuality :D

However, that he was the director had nothing to do with me liking the movie as Batto implied. I don't think I've seen anything else he has directed or even acted in. The reason I liked it was because it was a great funny movie which (I think) ably balanced the humour and action. That the humour was very New Zealand / Australian thanks to the crew and cast helped in that obviously.

I think I liked Ragnarok so much because it was very kiwi in its humour. It was just a fun movie to watch. Lots of cameos, and little kiwi jokes scattered through it too.

I think that it is safe to assume that the great majority of these "kiwi jokes" and humour can be mainly contributed to Mr. Waititi, don't you think? ;)

That 2018 Chlidonias quote is simply repeating what I just said. My liking the movie didn't have anything to do with "Which is by no means influenced by the fact that the director is quite popular in NZ, isn't it?", to quote 2020 Batto.
 
2020 Chlidonias should be less snippy (like that cool 2018 Chlidonias) and read 2020 Batto's last post again. ;)

2020 Chlidonias didn't need to read 2020 Batto's last post again because he was responding to 2020 Batto's previous post.

Also, 2020 Chlidonias is still cool, man.

WRONG! :D I love Ant-Man far more than most other MCU fans, I think it's hilarious, well written and directed, and has the best monologues in the MCU every time Luis starts telling a story. And let's give Michael Peña a special mention for being one of the best comedy relief characters introduced up until this point.

The only criticism I can aim at this film is that they should have let Edgar Wright direct it rather than sacking him.

And again, I felt very much the other way around on this. But who am I to stand in the way of love for whatever invisible brand of humor Paul Rudd & Co possess :p

(My caveat - in response to @Brum - is that Michael Peña was the only person I found to be legitimately slightly sort of a little funny in that movie. His monologues just annoyed me, though.)
