Now I’m with you. This is particularly an issue with Galahs, which are prone to lymphoma.Parrots mostly. They tend to eat lots of fruits and seeds which have relatively high amounts of sugar and fats. And if they aren’t flying, they gain weight.
One particular zoo is Mexico zoo, where many animals are obese.
What zoo are you actually referring to there ? Chapultepec ?
I visited a bird show once, and was surprised how much bigger are birds raised in aviaries are compared to the wild ones. Cage canaries are bigger than house sparrows, cage bullfinches are close to the size of wild European blackbirds... They reminded me of these monstrously big and fat people one see in McDonald's in America.
Yes. A female orangutan especially looked obese.I cannot find a photo of her, but see the gorilla and the bears:

Is this orangutan obese? Sorry for asking, but I have never seen orangutans in my life.Sorry, I did not mean to be offensive to Mexican zoo people. I was in Mexico some time ago and I think in my mind conflated animals in Chapultepec and the orangutan from Guadalajara Zoo.
best,
