But then, the male that arrived is of non-subspecific status. According to Zootierliste which I know isn't completely correct, Tierpark Strohen have non subspecific pumas.

With the newest arrival from Germany Pairi now have 2.1 puma. The original animal is an elderly male from Plzen who, yes, is a Missouri Puma. They received a non-subspecific female some time last year from a private collection, and have now received the newer male to pair with her. The Missouri male will live out the rest of his days alone.

Ok, so then I will edit Zootierliste to also add that they have non-specific pumas. Thanks to all of you for the clarification.

My problem is political, not the captive status of the monopolized simians.
This would probably be better in its own thread.

You don't really need to agree with the "One China policy" to cooperate with them conservation-wise.

Their are other objections besides the one-china policy. Such as the hypocrisy of working with a government that perpetuates many negative trends towards wildlife populations. Giving money to them for loans for pandas and snub-nosed monkeys does this in my opinion. Its also not some altruistic phenomenon to help the species. Many people argue it provides the nation with cover for the destruction of the rest of its biodiversity. But also the monopolization of species, and treatment as a commodity, does very little to help these species, where the rented population often does little to grow the overall captive populations numbers.

Just wanna clarify. I don't have an issue with a zoo housing the species. I simply have an issue with the arrangements that are usually done for Chinese species, that Western zoos agree to, to obtain the species.

I have never visited the park so I have no doubt that the installation of the snow leopards is more suited to possible golden monkeys, only, for a matter of cost and speed I think it is better to create a new installation. Or create an installation for panthers and at the same time rearrange the old one ... the choice is quickly made.

In addition a priori they build a fairly high greenhouse so a quality installation.

Does anyone reckon they’ll go the whole hog and go for all eight bear species at some point? I know they have plans of a South American area so spectacled certainly aren’t out of the question. Could see them getting some bachelor sloth bears, and possibly female sun bears to start with before transitioning into a breeding pair.

If there's a plan for South American area, I, just like everyone else, wouldn't be surprised if there are going to be attemps to get pacarana and bald uakari.

A colony of 66 African black-footed penguins have arrived at Pairi Daiza. They came from the Living Coasts in the UK that sadly had to close forever due to Covid-19. For the time being they will live in a part of the penguin and seal exhibit in the Cambron by the Sea area.

do they share their enclosure with Seals? Pairi Daiza

I'm not sure this new penguin group does, they might be in a separate zone from now. But last October I definitely saw that their original penguin group had access to a zone that the harbor seals also inhabited.

They do share the same enclosure - they are actually located on the opposite side to the other penguine group.

When I‘ve been there last weekend I already noticed them - however compared to the other group they still seemed quite shy. Nevertheless I also saw some of them already swiming (whereas the other group was a lot in the water)...
