Beginning Zoo Designer

I am new to this forums and was wondering if I could get some advice.

My personal dream is to own an animal park of my own but I have zero experience and next to zero money. All I have is bachelor's degree in Art and Paleontology.

I have always loved zoos and amusement parks and I hope to one day create one where both animals and humans can enjoy.

I'm just curious as to how to go about getting started and how to go about taking the first steps to pursue this dream of mine.

Any advice at all is helpful

First, welcome to ZooChat!
Second, I would start with a basic private collection, like reptiles and small mammals. I don’t know though.
Third, maybe go to Zoo Community 5 and start a zoo there, just to get the gist of it.

First off, the private collections and pets forum might be a more appropriate location for this thread. I would suggest starting with acquiring one relatively cheap, easy to keep exotic pet. If you slowly expand from here over time, eventually your collection will get to the point you can hopefully open to the public. Sone suggestions for starting animals, although don't limit yourself to something on this list-
1. Leopard Gecko
2. Tropical Fish or Cichlids
3. Pygmy Goats
4. Bearded Dragon
5. Corn Snake
6. Ball Python
7. Pink-toed Tarantula
8. Pac-man Frog
9. Hermit Crabs
10. Domestic Ferret
11. Domestic Rabbit
12. Chinchilla

Good Luck and make sure you research whatever animals before acquiring them!

Zoo community does not compare to running a zoo, it’s a fun little simulation game which is cool and creative but it would not help someone in this career path.

Im not good at explaining this sort of stuff so I’ll let @Batto handle this for me.

Why did you chose to make "Beginning Zoo Designer" the subject of this thread? Seems your interest is in starting/managing a zoo
There are numerous threads here from others with the same ambition. Those might prove helpful to you.
For example:

Owning a zoo
Who wants to own a zoo?

Hi Jack Dragonfly,
welcome to Zoochat. Take a look at the provided links to the various threads dealing with founding private zoos and why fictional zoo animal lists are, on the long run, a waste of time.

Unless you can use these degrees to obtain vast financial success, you will have a hard time fulfilling this dream of yours. You could start by volunteering at a zoo close to you.
