Most exotic animals seen on the pet trade

I don't know if it could be real but just in case, from what place of USA was the ad?

La Jungla Exotic Wildlife has a nine-year-old female for $30,000.

I'd assume they're on selling to other zoological facilities. Their website says that they claim to be a "private wildlife preservation sanctuary." It appears that the majority of their collection is New World primates.

I’ve seen a black bear cub and a Sandhill crane.
And I’m fine with people having exotic pets as long as they aren’t endangered, vulnerable, and near threatened, I don’t know why someone would sell a male binturong

So you’re not okay with people having Red Tailed Black Sharks, Boesmanis Rainbows, Dennisons Barbs etc?

No offence but that isn’t how exotic pets work.

Imagine the atrocity of owning chinchillas. Keep in mind, even if domestic chinchillas are hybrids, both chinchilla species are still endangered.

To answer your question on a male binturong, is because they know there's some one who wants one.

So bad that clouded leopards are being sold like this.

The animal is being advertised to zoological facilities. A lot of the more exotic species on that website are advertised from USDA certified private keepers to be sold to other private keepers or zoological institutions. It appears the Binturong is being sold under the same context. Now, of course, these animals could easily end up in a roadside zoo but they likely will not end up in someone home. These animals are often advertised to be paired up for breeding, which most exotic pet owners do not do.

Then, I feel a little bit better. I hope they don't end in a roadside zoo.

So I can buy it. Duh.

AZA facilities could technically get animals for exoticanimalsforsale.net. As long as the person selling is licensed by the USDA I believe they're allowed to purchase animals from them. I believe I saw that Los Angeles Zoo bought hedgehogs from a private breeder.

They could but that doesn't mean they do. Zoos sometimes purchase from the private trade, especially as far as education animals and many pet trade herps are concerned, but I do believe the AZA encourages getting animals from other AZA zoos. I know some zoos that will go through the trouble of sourcing guineapigs from within the AZA rather than buy some.

Imagine you have a male Binturong and for whatever reason you don't want it/cannot care for it. What do you do?

I'm not quite sure what point you're trying to make here against the private keeping of certain exotic animals... especially when it appears @EsserWarrior was joking.

I found african giant shrews for sale in Japan imported from Europe.

Link? Not heard of this species in captivity before.

I'm not making a statement here for or against the keeping of exotic pets. I am just trying to explain why "someone would sell a male Binturong".
