With so many people now working from home or in self isolation or just not going out as much - I thought I would bring forward my plans to relaunch our chatroom as a place for ZooChat members to talk about life or zoos and generally just hang out together.
Previously we used an IRC channel, but the lack of moderation capabilities and mobile-friendly UI was a big limitation, so we stopped using it.
Instead, I have implemented a Discord server which gives us rich text chat capabilities with the ability to moderate users and maintain a chat room in line with our general forum rules.
Once I get the forum software upgrade completed, there will be much tighter integration between the forum and the chatroom - including the ability to request and grant access automatically, which will make things easier for everyone.
For now though, I will manage things manually so please use this invite link to gain access to the chatroom:Join the ZooChat Discord Server! (note: invite expires after 24 hours - will post a new link when required)
Please use your forum username as your Discord nickname to make it easier for everyone to identify you.
Remember: forum rules apply, so please behave.
Also note that minimum age for Discord is 13 years (which is also the minimum age for ZooChat!), so if you are younger than this, please do NOT join our Discord chatroom until you are old enough.
