Crocodilians in American Zoos

You've already forgotten my Electric City visit :p American alligator, Morelet’s Crocodile, Cuvier’s Dwarf Caiman.

Croc Encounters Reptile Park has American alligator, American croc, Nile croc, Cuban croc, Morelet's croc, Broad-snouted caiman, Cuvier's dwarf caiman, and Schneider's dwarf caiman.

Alligator Alley in WI also has New Guinea croc, 2 caiman species, possibly other croc species? Alligators, Crocodiles and Caimans - Alligator Alley Adventures

Crocodile Encounter in TX has American alligator, Orinoco croc, Siamese croc, and Nile croc (east african, south african, and madagascar)

Asterisks have other species but I'm not sure which.

The Bronx Zoo has two American Alligator displays, one seasonal in the Children's Zoo and another of baby alligators year round in the Reptile House. I think the latter are refugees from the pet trade but they get enough to have a permanent exhibit for them.

Okay. Thanks. I only knew about the adult exhibit.

Philadelphia no longer has Chinese alligator, or their Desert crocodile. I think it's just American crocodile and a dwarf caiman species?

When I visited in 2018 they had West African Dwarf Crocodile and were in the process of breeding them; are those not there anymore?

Also where does Philly have the American crocodile and dwarf caiman?

Are you sure the animal you're thinking of as the American Crocodile isn't the Desert? The zoo has never had American Crocodile on my visits.

Do you, or any one else for that matter, know if the "New Guinea croc" is Crocodylus halli or Crocodylus novaeguineae?

I think the answer to this will depend entirely on what exactly St. Augustine has as I think all the New Guineas in America come from them. If they have both species, then it could be either one. If they do only have halli, then that's the ID. @jayjds2 may be able to clarify more.

Philly zoo: they have maintained at least 4 crocodilian species since I have been visiting in the late 80s.
They may have gotten acutus again. They had a large individual up until the early-mid 2000s. It resided next to the American gators.
They have done with dwarf croc and most likely.have them. P. Pal resided in both carnivore kingdom and then the s. American "wing" of the herp house. At one time there were 7 species on display

Bramble Park Zoo has American Alligators.

Edited to add Blank Park Zoo has a West African Dwarf Crocodile.

I'm not sure if the dwarf crocodiles are still there, it's always either empty or covered on my visits.

Dwarf caiman - checked the sign, it's Cuvier's - it in the little alcove near the cobra triangle. If you enter from the right side (by the anaconda), it's to the right of the cobras. Pig-nosed and snake-necked turtles have been by them.

American crocodile is where the other large species used to live, in the corner across from the beaded lizards.

Are you sure the animal you're thinking of as the American Crocodile isn't the Desert? The zoo has never had American Crocodile on my visits.

On my last two visits both the animal signed as a Nile and the American alligator were gone, replaced with one American crocodile taking up the whole space. The Chinese crocodile left around the same time.

They're down to 2 or 3 right now. Carnivore kingdom hasn't existed in years. Reptiles are only kept in the reptile house now, other than very small species occasionally being in the children's zoo.

Edit: It's signed as a west african crocodile, not an American crocodile. Oops, sorry!

Yeah, it was covered on my visit as well but it said that was because they were nesting. I figure if they are still signed and the exhibit isn't listed as empty they're probably still there.

Just considering Phillys success rate with breeding dwarf croc I find it hard they wouldn't have them. I remember part of a wall with holes punched through just next to the old a. Gator exhibit that had young in there.

It held chinese alligator, not dwarf crocs. It's now covered up.

It did hold dwarf crocs born at the zoo at one point. Not surprising it held the chinese gator. It was created when the herp house was getting redone and held the large acutus.
