I personally don't care for meerkats but I understand their value in zoos.

Note the discolouration of the finger though. Not every Australian animal is an immediate killer. In this species it kills humans by gripping a finger so tightly that eventually the blood supply gets cut off, the finger then dies and falls off, and some time later gangrene sets in and the victim dies. In some ways it is the worst of all Australian animals.

(Not to mention they currently exhibit Laysan albatrosses and an ocean sunfish and have exhibited flapjack octopuses and freaking great white sharks.)
