Disney's Animal Kingdom® Park News from Disney's Animal Kingdom

My favorite part of the article is where they call koalas "easy to care for animals".

Well, they're easy so long as you can supply them with their single dietary item. Same goes for dugongs, three-toed sloths, horned lizards, and a lot of insects.

A female Mandrill named “Ivy” that was born on Saturday, April 10th, from first-time mom “Hazel” and dad “Linus”, has now made her public debut with her parents and relatives out in the mandrill compound of the Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction. The baby joins the troop of seven mandrills that call the park home. And with this birth, the troop at Disney’s Animal Kingdom now consists of four generations of mandrills from within the same family, mirroring that of the social systems that wild mandrills would use out in their native habitat.

Great to hear that.

When were the Mandrills added Kilimanjaro Safaris? I don’t believe they were there from opening.

I guess it turns out that Disney’s Animal Kingdom seems to be on a roll when it comes to successful giraffe births over the past few years or so. And it seems that it couldn’t have been anymore true, mostly because of the recent birth of a male Masai Giraffe whose name is yet to be determined. That was recently born on Thursday, June 10th, of this year from his mother “Lily” and a father whose name has not been revealed to the public at this time.

The park’s staff have also stated that the calf and his mother will eventually join the rest of the park’s giraffe tower/herd living within the Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction in the coming weeks.

Tuma, the hippo, is expecting a baby in the next couple weeks! The sire of the calf is Henry, I believe this will be the pair's second calf after Augustus who was born in 2018 and is now at Dallas.

“We expect Henry will be celebrating again soon as he and his mate, Tuma, await the arrival of a baby hippo in the coming weeks.”
