Havent been in a while however as far as im aware this year will see the completion of a new tiger enclosure. This will be for the two amur tigers and then the white tiger will return and go into whats currently their enclosure and tiger treetops. This will be built on the site of the old white lion and cheetah enclosures.

I have only heard this as rumour can anyone else confirm if this is the correct plans. This will also mean that cheetah would of left the collection.

Looks good, seems like there will be separate enclosures for the amur tigers and the white tiger. This new project will take up half the original ‘big cat territory’.

They mentioned in a comment on Facebook that as well as re-doing the Amur and White tiger habitats they will also be 'making new habitats for our Reticulated Pythons, Red Pandas, Otters, Camels and Small Primates, all of which will be completed by summer.'

Paradise have now announced that they will no longer be keeping white tigers or white lions once they reach the end of their natural life. They have also teased a new species will be arriving shortly in replacement.

So, after nearly 15 years, they've finally seen sense! Im guessing it'll be another cat species-Puma perhaps? Or maybe Malayan tiger. Doubt they'd be given the go ahead for Asian lion.

I don’t think you are allowed to keep Asian and African lions in the same collection. My guess would be another sub species of tiger or maybe leopards. I always thought paradise needed a large primate species so maybe thats a potential?

There have been aspirations for gorilla, giraffe and Pygmy hippo in the past but unless the site’s footprint is expanded I honestly don’t know how any of these are feasible.

My money would be on Sumatran Tiger. Given that Paradise or the Big Cat Sanctuary don't currently have a breeding pair of any Tiger species at either site and the EEP is in desperate need of new holders currently. Also endangered and high profile species from a public perspective..

would also make sense as I believe there are two enclosures in land of the tiger as they were originally building one for the white tiger.

Sun bear perhaps? Considering Giles Clarke’s, and the Big Cat Sanctuary’s, growing ties to Free the Bears.

That could work... Especially if they move the Amurs into the new tiger exhibit, freeing up their old one... Not sure how bear proof that one is though :D:eek:

Its fully confirmed that next april a new exhibit will be opening called sun bear heights. It will house sun bears, binturong and asian otters all in the same enclosure which is the first of it's kind in the uk. If anyone wants proof look at a you tube chanell called uk zoo adventures, and on his most recent video at about 10 minutes in a keeper tells you

Just wondering how compatible Sun Bears might be in a mixed exhibit. I’ve not seen them mixed.
