Bonobos in Europe

The new arrivals at Rhenen are from Vallee des Singes, where they were off-show awaiting transfer. They were waiting so long that Nginga (f) was born to Lingoye on 9 August 2018 and a male baby born Omanga in November 2019, and they should also part of to that group?
They are not off show but on show. They have access to one indoor exhibit and the second outdoor island.
I think the situation is really hard for la Vallée as there are now too many bonobos in the exhibit and it's difficult too manage them.
Rhene did a bad work with the change of their bonobos project and the new one seems not good (the outdoor enclosures look ugly and empty from what I saw on pictures).

I was pleased Aspinall didn't get bonobos because they would probably now be part of DA's experiments at re-introduction. I am not opposed to re-introduction if it is done properly, such as by Lola Ya Bonobo, but feel that the Aspinall Foundation, had they got Bonobos, would not have followed that route due to the lack of PR opportunities.

I see, well thats a good point I suppose and I think I generally agree with it too.

Under that hypothetical situation I think you are right that any breeding success of bonobos at the Aspinall parks would have eventually been offset by DA's take over and the new "emphasis" of the parks on dodgy re-introductions.

Do not forget that after the first review then Corona lockdown came in the way.

To be fair: I had reservations with their gorilla exhibit, but after I visited the zoo again last year it opened my eyes to how functional the whole thing was. Nice to see the Roloway monkeys in there too.

@BjoernN Prague ? Never heard about it and never seen articles speaking about it (and there were lots about future exhibits in Prague).
@Jana Did you heard about it ?

Yes, circa 10 years ago, Prague zoo director talked about future plans and both bonobo and okapi were planned to be housed in area right behind the main zoo entrance. These plans were scrapped afaik, or at least not mentioned again in recent years.
