Hipporex's Jurassic World (Jurassic World redesign)

This was just a project I did in my free time out of boredom and having nothing better to do. I just felt like sharing it on here so other people can see it and perhaps be inspired to do their own redesigns or just have fun reading this "fanfiction" (I guess that's what it could be called). Also, in here I reference a lot of canon things that aren't necessarily mentioned in the films so if you aren't as big of a fan as I am you may not understand, and if that is the case, I'll be happy to explain.

I really like Jurassic World and even, to a lesser extent, Fallen Kingdom. There, I said it! Controversial opinion or not it's how I feel. But that's not the point of this post; the point of this post is to share with you how I would of designed Jurassic World (not the movie, but the theme park within the movie). I like how Colin Trevorrow and crew designed the theme park for the most part, but there are somethings I personally would of done differently. For example, although I like seeing new species, I find it slightly annoying how they keep throwing in species that we have no prior record of. We first had the Jurassic World website which gave a list of animals that were on Isla Nublar in 2015. But then Fallen Kingdom came out and added species that weren't on said list (Allosaurus jimmadseni, Carnotaurus sastrei, Compsognathus triassicus, Sinoceratops zhuchengensis, and Stygimoloch spinifer) and horribly redesigned one that was (Baryonyx walkeri). (You could also argue Brachiosaurus brancai but we hear one in JW and it is mentioned on the Masrani website as a future attraction). Additionally the Dinosaur Protection Group's list semi-canonized a bunch of dinosaurs we had no prior reference to (to many to list). Then Battle at Big Rock came out and out of no where added Nasutoceratops titusi. And then finally the season 2 trailer for Camp Cretaceous just dropped and showed Ceratosaurus dentisulcatus was on Isla Nublar this whole time despite having no prior reference to it being there. (Yes I am aware zoos in the real world keep species behind-the-scenes without notifying the public but with animals like the Sinoceratops, CC made it seem like they were on display and not hidden from the public.) But I digress. My solution to this is, if I were Colin, when the production for JW began I would of written would of made a list of animals canon to Nublar in 2015, and then the creatures from this list would be the only ones allowed to show up in JW media until Dominion, when more companies are making different animals. That way we'd have consistency. Not every animal on the list would actually appear mind you, but at they'd have the list to post on places like the in-universe JW and DPG websites. I hope that makes sense but if it doesn't I can further elaborate. So...initially I just a list of clones that I would of made if I were Colin in like 2013/14 (whenever JW production began), but then I started brainstorming and I redid the entire park. I kept some parts semi-intact but I changed/added other things. But before I show you the "other things" here is a list of de-extinct fauna that'd be kept at Jurassic World prior to the 2015 incident:

I'll give a brief description about each. (If I start talking in italics it's because I'm explaining my thinking behind the previous statement).

Ferry Landing: It's where the ferry that takes people too and from the mainland docks. (Opened with the park in 2005).

Gondwanaland Golf: A world-class 18 hole golf course. (Opened with the park in 2005).

Jurassic Jungle Botanical Gardens: A botanical gardens home to well over a thousand plant species. It is home to both living and de-extinct flora. Many of the plants grown here are used to feed the park's herbivorous dinosaurs. (Opened with the park in 2005).

Camp Cretaceous: Jurassic World's brand-new teen adventure camp. Six lucky teenagers have been selected for a trail run of this experience. (Opening this month, June 2015).

Raptor Research Paddock: Home to four Velociraptor, this enclosure was specially built to hold these highly intelligent and extremely dangerous animals. Simon Masrani assigned the InGen Security Division to use this space investigate the raptors' intelligence. This project has been dubbed I.B.R.I.S. (Integrated Behavioral Raptor Intelligence Study). This paddock is not on public display. (Built in 2013).

Hunting Grounds: Hunting Grounds is a walking attraction home to some of Jurassic World's deadliest carnivores. This attraction is home to Allosaurus fragilis, Baryonyx walkeri, Dilophosaurus wetherilli, and Herrerasaurus ischigualastensis. (Opened in 2009).

Shimmering Caverns: Still under construction, Shimmering Caverns will be a kayak ride through a beautiful underground network of tunnels. But don't worry, it won't be dark, as the path will be lit by bioluminescent organisms, including a world first, a certain species of bioluminescent dinosaur! (Set to open in 2019).

Gyrosphere Safari: Hop aboard our one of a kind gyrospheres and view some of the largest animals our park has to offer. Normally set on a predetermined path, special VIP guests get to drive the gyropsheres around themselves! (This would make the ride generally safer but also give the producers a reason for Zach and Grey to be driving the gyrosphere themselves). (Opened with the park in 2005).

Verizon Wireless Presents The Indominus’s Domain: Opening later this month, The Indominus's Domain will be home to a Jurassic World first, a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur! (Yes I know technically ever JW clone is a hybrid but they would want to market it as something unique). Dubbed Darcy by her creators, the Indominus rex is a hybrid whose base genome is T. rex and the rest is classified. "Bigger, scarier, and more teeth," was our motto when creating our latest attraction. (Opening this month, June 2015)

Mt. Sibo: Mt. Sibo's geothermal energy serves as a source of renewable power for most of the facilities at Jurassic World. But fear not, this volcano has long been dormant and there is no indication it'll be erupting any time soon. (Created when the island was formed).

Radio Tower Bunker: Initially this bunker's purpose was to be used during the original park, but due to the abandonment of the island it was unused, until it would be to serve as the northernmost location on the island for Jurassic World employees to track the island's dinosaur species. All of our clones, except for the pterosaurs and Tylosaurus, which are both safely contained, have trackers in them just in case of an containment anomaly. (This would explain why no one zapped the pterosaurs during the events of JW). (Built sometime prior to 1993).

North Dock: Originally built for Jurassic Park, this is where supplies is shipped to for Jurassic World. (Built sometime prior to 1993).

Dinos of a Feather: Did you know that modern birds are actually dinosaurs?! Witness the evolution of our avian friends by visiting this one of a kind exhibit. Here you can walk through not one, but two free-flight aviaries; one of which is home to Jurassic World’s smallest prehistoric star. (Yes in my version of Jurassic World, there'd be feathered dinosaurs. Big whoop-dee-doo.) In addition to de-extinct dinosaurs, you can also find some birds native to mainland Costa Rica here. Once the park's raptors retire from the I.B.R.I.S. project, they'll go on display here. (Opened in 2013).

Treetop Browsers: Still under construction, Treetop Browsers will give guests the opportunity to get an eyes-level look at and maybe even feed our Brachiosaurus, which are currently kept behind-the-scenes. The animals exhibited in Treetop Browsers are the same animals that were originally going to be displayed in Jurassic Park. (Set to open in 2017).

Cretaceous Cruise: Climb aboard one of our canopied boats and embark on a twenty to thirty minute adventure to discover some of the most unusual dinosaurs Jurassic World has to offer. See a small herbivore with a domed head, a carnivore known as the “meat-eating bull,” and a nodosaur with some mean-looking spikes. (Opened in 2007).

Aerial Gondola: Hop abroad one of our aerial gondolas and ascend into the clouds as you head to the *unnamed mountain* Overlook. You can see for miles in every direction. And the bravest of you can walk across our glass bridge and look down to see the earth way beneath you. Hopefully you're not afraid of heights! (Opened with the park in 2005)

Command Center: The Command Center is a medium-sized building where staff members watch over the park from monitors. (Opened with the park in 2005)

Zipline Adventure: Ever wanted to soar like a pterosaur? Well you can at our Zipline Adventure experience. (Opened with the park in 2005).

Pteranodome: Home to the largest flying animals the world's ever seen, the Pteranodome (Aren't I clever with naming?) is home to three species of pterosaur. (Opened in 2011).

Gallimimus Valley: Hop aboard a Steyr-Daimler-Puch Pinzgauer 712 M and ride alongside massive flocks of Gallimimus and herds of hadrosaurs. (Opened with the park in 2005).

Tylosaurus Feeding Show: Once a day, everyday, watch as our massive Tylosaurus is fed large tuna or tarpon. One occasion she also gets fed shark when one is accidentally caught and killed by local fishermen. (I chose to go with Tylosaurus instead of Mosasaurus because Tylosaurus was supposedly already created by InGen when Jurassic Park: The Game is taken as canon.) (Opened with the park in 2005).

Underwater Observatory: When she's not being fed, the perfect place to observe our Tylosaurus is the Underwater Observatory. She her swim alongside schools of fish. (The fish wouldn't be de-extinct species but rather modern species put in with the Tylosaurus to make the exhibit look more vibrant when the Tylosaurus isn't in view.; also the fish would be so small compared to the Tylosaurus, she wouldn't even consider trying to eat them, as long as she's well fed). (Opened with the park in 2005).

Dave & Buster's: Come and have fun with the whole family at our Dave & Buster's on Main Street. (Opened with the park in 2005).

3-D IMAX theater: Come experience some Jurassic World short films, how they were meant to be seen, on a screen as big as a dinosaur! (Opened with the park in 2005).

Tyrannosaurus Rex Kingdom: Home to Roberta, InGen's original T. rex, Tyrannosaurus Rex Kingdom replicates what type of environment Tyrannosaurus rex lived in 66 million years ago. Come watch Roberta eat a live goat twice a day! This experience may be scary for small children. (Opened with the park in 2005).

Samsung Innovation Center: The hub of a guest's Jurassic World experience, the Samsung Innovation Center is like a living museum with dioramas, informative displays, and even holograms! (Opened with the park in 2005).

Hammond Creation Lab: Located within the Samsung Innovation Center, the Hammond Creation Lab is where the real Jurassic World magic happens. Have you ever wanted to see what a dinosaur hatching out of an eggs looks like? Or how our scientists extract the dino DNA in the first place? Well you can and more at the Hammond Creation Lab. (Opened with the park in 2005).

Saurian Veterinary Hospital: Watch as our very experience paleoveterinarians (AKA Dino Doctors) perform wellness checks on the animals that call Jurassic World home. (Opened with the park in 2005).

The Egg Spinner: Hop aboard the Egg Spinner for a whirl of a time! (Since we're never show it in the movie, I can only assume the Egg Spinner is like Disneyland's Teacups but with egg shells.) (Opened with the park in 2005).

Gentle Giants Petting Zoo: Ever wondered what a dinosaur feels like? Ever wanted to ride a dinosaur? You can do that and more at Jurassic World's Gentle Giants Petting Zoo! (Opened in 2013).

Tethys Water Park: Named after a long gone ocean, you can enjoy getting drenched at our Tethys Water Park. The water park includes water slides, a lazy river, and a tide pool. (Opened with the park in 2005).

Hilton Isla Nublar Resort & Spa: Unless you're planning a one day trip (which we don't recommend because you'll miss out on all the fun!), come stay at Hilton Isla Nublar Resort & Spa and hear the cries of dinosaurs when the park is closed. (Opened with the park in 2005). (The way I see it, the majority of the park would close at night so guests would need somewhere to stay at night unless they plan on ferrying back and forth to and from the island each day). (Opened with the park in 2005).

Here is a list of every enclosure (and said enclosure inhabitants):
  • Paddock One (located within the Gyrosphere Safari attraction): Ankylosaurus magniventris, Apatosaurus ajax, Parasaurolophus walkeri, Stegosaurus ungulatus, Triceratops horridus
  • Paddock Two (located within the Gallimimus Valley attraction): Edmontosaurus annectens, Gallimimus bullatus, Maiasaura peeblesorum
  • Paddock Three (located within the Tyrannosaurus Rex Kingdom attraction): Tyrannosaurus rex
  • Paddock Four (located within the Cretaceous Cruise attraction): Concavenator corcovatus
  • Paddock Five(located within the Cretaceous Cruise attraction): Pachycephalosaurus wyomingensis

  • Paddock Seven (located within the Cretaceous Cruise attraction): Apatosaurus ajax, Nasutoceratops titusi, Sauropelta edwardsorum, Stegosaurus ungulatus
  • Paddock Eight (located within the Hunting Grounds attraction): Herrerasaurus ischigualastensis
  • Paddock Nine (located within the Hunting Grounds attraction): Allosaurus fragilis
  • Paddock Ten (located within the Hunting Grounds attraction): Baryonyx walkeri
  • Paddock Eleven (located within the Hunting Grounds attraction): Dilophosaurus wetherilli
  • Paddock Twelve (located within the Dinos of a Fethaer attraction): Compsognathus triassicus
  • Paddock Thirteen (located within the Dinos of a Fethaer attraction): Citipati osmolskae, Gallimimus bullatus

  • Walk-Through Aviary Two: Various species of bird native to Costa Rica
  • Large Geodesic Dome: Boreopterus cuiae, Hatzegopteryx thambema, Pteranodon longiceps
  • Jurassic World Lagoon: Tylosaurus proriger (I should note the in my version the Jurassic World Lagoon would not be seperated from the ocean by an opeanable gate but by a seawall; and the way the Tylosaurus would escape in FK would be because seismic activity under the island caused the seawall to collapse).
Future enclosures:
  • Paddock Fifteen (located within the Verizon Wireless Present The Indomins's Domain attraction): Indominus rex
  • Paddock Sixteen (located within the Treetop Browsers attraction): Brachiosaurus brancai
  • Paddock Seventeen (located within the Shimmering Caverns attraction): Parasaurolophus walkeri (Bioluminescent)
  • Paddock Eighteen (located within the Dinos of a Feather attraction): Velociraptor antirrhopus
Now one last little thing, and it's about the dinosaur designs. I would change most of them. I would make them all look at least a tad more accurate. I'm not gonna go into to much detail but here are a couple of examples of already existing designs and how I'd modify them:
  • I would add feathers to: Compsognathus triassicus, Gallimimus bullatus, and Velociraptor antirrhopus.
  • The pterosaurs would have pycnofibers.
  • I would un-shrinkwrap all of the dinosaurs.
  • I would un-pronate the wrists of all the carnivores.
  • I would give the herbivores proper integument (not the elephant-like skin they have now).
  • Stegosaurus would get its beak back and its tail wouldn't be so droopy.
  • And like I said I would just make all the existing designs more accurate generally.
  • I should note the one thing I would change are the vocalizations (they may be inaccurate but I freaking love them).
Here are a couple of designs I might have in the films:

The Velociraptor antirrhopus would look something like this:

The Tylosaurus proriger would look something like this:

The Baroynx walkeri would look something like this:

The Stegosaurus ungulatus would look something like this:

The Gallimimus bullatus would look something like this:

And finally, the Triceratops horridus would look something like this (minus the dewlap however):

In my closing remarks I would just like to reiterate that I actually do like the Jurassic World movies. This is simply meant a fun side project and not me shaming the franchise. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hope you enjoyed reading this, and have a great rest of your day!

Actually one last little teeny, tiny thing: If I were Colin, when it comes to FK, I would of made the film longer thus giving us more time on the island and at Lockwood's manor, or I would of gotten rid of the Indoraptor subplot and have most of the movie focus on the island, or I would of split it up into two movies, one focusing on rescuing the dinosaurs from the island and then getting sabotaged at the end by Mills's men, and one focusing on Lockwood's manor and saving the dinosaurs from Mills.

When making the enclosures list I completely forgot about Gentle Giants Petting Zoo. First I'd like to that if this we're an actual zoo I was running, no way would I let kids or adults touch and ride the baby dinosaurs, but this is a movie at the end of the day and I found this scene appealing in the film (largely because I know and have been to where they filmed it). Anyway, there would be five exhibits in Gentle Giants Petting Zoo and each would be dubbed a Nursery Paddock.
  • Nursery Paddock One would be home to herbivorous/omnivorous juveniles that are safe for kids to touch, feed, and ride.
  • Nursery Paddock Two would be home herbivorous/omnivorous juveniles that are a tad to big or aggressive for guests interaction.
  • And Nursery Paddock Three, Four, and Five would be home to carnivorous juveniles that only staff could interact with.

Here is my enclosure/Attractions list;

T. Rex Kingdom - Tyrannosaurus Rex

Velociraptor Valley - Velociraptor

Pachy Arena - Pachycephalosaurus, Stygimoloch

Triceratops Territory - Triceratops

Cretaceous Cruise - Apatosaurus, Sinoceratops, Microceratus, Corythosaurus, Baryonyx
