Birds of prey killed in safari park fire

Two birds of prey have died after fire broke out in an aviary.

Giraffe Zoe was born 20.08.99 at Blair Drummond - she was a mix (think she died 2010)......her father was Dillon born in Windsor 28.06.87 also a mix....came 1995 to Blair Drummond and died november 2002.

There was a lone elephant still when I visited a month ago.

I believe its Mondula aka Mondy. She's 48yrs born 1972

Just seen a barbary macaque escaped today and ended up in the lion enclosure.
Obviously wasn't a happy ending and all happened in front of families.
Must have been awful to see and would imagine serious questions will now be asked.

Appears the freedom foundation also commented on the situation. They claim this is a main reason why zoos need to be phased out.

If this is their main reason for phasing out zoos, then that's some very flawed logic.

Without a suitable vehicle for the safari (and no mini bus running) what would I miss seeing here? Are the big cats visible on foot?

Yes both Lions and Tigers are visible on foot. The Lions enclosure has a raised walkway along one boundary fence, the Tigers are only visible from foot and again have a raised walkway overlooking the enclosure.
