I had no idea she was the oldest cheetah in the AZA. Hopefully Imara continues to do well.
Do you guys think the zoo will get more cheetahs once Imara passes away? I've always been a big fan of Milwaukee's large cat collection.

I’m not sure. Milwaukee is too small for breeding purposes, so if we do get more cheetahs it will be a holding facility. Before the current cheetahs it was two males I believe so maybe it’ll switch back to males again but who knows.Do you guys think the zoo will get more cheetahs once Imara passes away? THAT'S IT!? I was thinking of Milwaukee as Wisconsin's prairie dog stronghold, but I guess not! This species will almost surely be lost from the state's zoos soon, as it's illegal to bring prairie dogs into the state. Also, there are 2 male Prairie Dogs at the zoo.

I think that is a fantastic idea. A former dall sheep mountain aviary for the vultures could be very cool and unique I think, if they did it right.Because the Savannah exhibit below them is nearly empty (one male impala, 1 or 2 Thomson’s gazelle, vultures, and ground hornbills), I would love for the exhibit to be expanded into this section. It would be a great opportunity if the impala male moved in with the others in Adventure Africa and the former Dall Sheep mountain remodeled into a vulture aviary. Then, the cats would have significantly more space, maybe even breeding room if they got their old indoor exhibit back.
Here's an article on the new Cuddlefish:

My mistake! Spelling was never my skillI prefer cuddlefish to cuttlefish! They’re much friendlier.
The reason why we aren’t recommended to have a cheetah breading program is because the exhibit is to small (sounds like a problem with most of the exhibits at the zoo).I think that is a fantastic idea. On the indoor space; a zookeeper told me several years ago that the zoo is "not recommended" to have cheetahs in that exhibit. Some time has passed so things may have changed, but that is the reason we got the Caracal in 2014, and Amos the Serval after the caracal passed in 2017. I don't know if that non-recommendation has changed.
Seems they will need to make informed choices! The reason why we aren’t recommended to have a cheetah breading program is because the exhibit is to small (sounds like a problem with most of the exhibits at the zoo).
The reason why we received the caracal/serval was because the zoo had that exhibit space and the cheetahs hated it. So they move the cheetahs to the outdoors only for public viewing and they had to fill that now empty exhibit and that’s what we got.
Overall, that cat building and the surrounding area, though recently was renovated, needs to be renovated again to provide the space needed to house and breed these awesome animals.
Remind me, Comanche was the male elk, correct?I was told that Comanche has past away with in recent weeks. Also two of the Thompson gazelles have passed this past year as well.

What exhibits are being renovated in the ARC?There’s a solid chance of me visiting the zoo this weekend. Is there anything you guys want me to check out?

Besides the cuttlefish, the Puget Sound and the octopus exhibit was under renovation the last time I was there. Also the Surinam toad exhibit was still empty, and King Cobra was still off exhibit. What exhibits are being renovated in the ARC?
