Felids of the United States

They still use a jungle cat in some of their multi-species graphics, so I'm sure they've had those species at one point, but not recently. I have their info for the last couple of years, and the only other species was an Abyssinian Genet.

When you say "was an Abyssinian Genet" does that mean it has since passed away? Do you know the years that they had this genet? I wonder how sure they are of the exact species, and where it came from originally.

Its name was Babycakes - there are photos on Google Images if you search "Babycakes genet". All genets look the same to me though.

Genets are a pain, but this is for sure not an Abyssinian Genet. Looks like either G. maculata or G. pardina with the amount of black on the tail and overall pattern.

As noted on the thread for R Lazy J Wildlife Ranch, they have just received a cheetah. Presumably it comes from Roer's Zoofari which is run by relatives of one of the owners.

I don't think it would have come from Roer's, they have a pair of brothers. But several other places have had cubs within the last year or two, including Richmond, which is where Roer's are from.

Not anymore. DeYoung's current cat collection is:

-African Lion
-Tiger (Generic White, Generic Orange, Amur, and Malayan)
-Leopard (Generic Black)

Also just noticed something else missing from the list. Wildwood Zoo should have Bobcat.

Did it just pass away/get moved? They had one last month.

Thanks, I think I thought Wildwood Zoo and Wildwood Wildlife Park Zoo were the same place.

I haven't been to the facility, so I cannot confirm when the snow leopard was at the facility. I just saw photos of it online.

@ChunkyMunky pengopus what is the difference between those in bold type and those in regular type. Also if you can see margay at EFBC Feline Conservation Center then why include Santa Ana Zoo on the list? Just curious. Also two of the biggest varieties (which could potentially move one of these off the list) is Big Cats World Park (Oregon, which has wildcat among others) and Project Survival's Cat Haven (California, which has jaguarundi among others).

Bold was to indicate the main species the place was listed for. Why go to Exotic Feline Rescue Center, IN for Ocelot or Serval when there are other places with them, if you aren't interested in Leopard cats? I don't know if that make sense. Also I forgot to highlight Caracal...

EFBC Feline Conservation Center's Margay is 25 years old as mentioned, which is (correct me) very old and so that may not be a reliable place to see a Margay in the future.

I could have included Big Cats World Park, but it doesn't have anything not covered, and Omaha has Wild Cat. Same thing with Project Survival's Cat Haven, nothing that the other ones didn't cover, and more out of the way, but definitely an honorable mention.

Is this style of post, listing the smallest number of parks needed to visit, helpful? Were there too many gaps to be useful? If it is, I will try to do it for other groups, but it might be convoluted and unnecessary.

I think EFBC Feline Conservation Center also has leopard cat, which means the place in Indiana can be removed completely. However the problem with EFBC is that not all species are on public display. (The same may be true of some other places). I heard a rumor from a staff member somewhere (that I cannot name) that an accredited facility was considering importing a margay from Europe. However I don't think anything will come of it. I have heard lots of rumors over the years from various insider sources and as often as not they come to nothing.
