Us inventorys

Hi everyone.

Here in Europe many of our zoos post annual inventorys of there collections. (granted many are out of date) Are there any poster dby US collections? If so of anyone could post links that would be great. Would be very interested in seeing what's held compared to over here.

There is not a central repository - we do not have a Zootierliste-type database like Europe does and most of our zoos do not publish public inventories.

We have a couple of different workarounds. There are several species lists on ZooChat made by Americans like myself, which help keep track of some taxonomic groups (more birds than anything else at the moment, probably - fair amount of mammals too, though). There are also USDA inspection lists, which have variable accuracy but a lot of the information is correct. Neither of these are comprehensive or incredibly accurate (to be fair, neither is ZTL) but it's a start.

Chances are, if you're interested in a particular species or group of animals it has been discussed on this site before - try using the search function to look around for it.

Thanks for your response! I don't trust zootierliste.de too out of date. I like the ones posted by zoos them selves showing year start and year end holding of full collections. Much more accurate!
