Parc animalier de Sainte-Croix Parc Animalier de Sainte Croix

For the first time since 2010 2 male European lynxes were born in the night from 11 on 12 May :) .

Again a nice new species added to the collection. For the new North America-section of the zoo a pack of coyotes has been arrived from the USA :).

The park opened the most important european pond turtles breeding center in France.
The center is composed of a breeding pond for adults, four ponds for youngs, a house for egg incubation and a pond for the red-eared sliders received from private people.
200 young european pond turtles has been transfered from Réserve de la Haute-Touche and Zoodyssée and released in the park's ponds.

Map of the center :

And two videos of the opening and the release :

Arrival of two young male american black bears, called Idaho and Oregon, from Planète Sauvage. The two guys were born in 2019.
On the other side, two females called Amelie and Kaska, leaved (I don't know for which park).

Next year the park will open two large walkthrough aviaries for their western carpecailles and for shorebirds.
Some details for the new aviaries :
- the one for carpecailles will be 400 m2 and divised in three parts to allow females to choose the males.
- the shorebirds aviary will be 750 m2 and will be home to five species : eurasian curlews, black-winged stilts, pied avocettes, common redshanks and ruffs.

During march the park received a new female nepalese red panda from Vogepark Avifauna. This female called Zaya was born July 9th 2021. She join two other females, Bao and Ying Tao, already living at the park.
