Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Six Flags Discovery Kingdom news

I visited this theme park yesterday and I then uploaded exactly 71 photos of the facility into the gallery. I also typed up a 6-paragraph review and it is located in the thread "Snowleopard's 2017 Road Trip". I'm just posting this information here as I know that not everyone chooses to access the gallery and therefore sometimes photos become buried in the mix.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is going to reopen on July 2. They're calling it the "Marine World Experience." Initially all rides will be closed and it'll essentially just be a zoo.

What animals do they have these days? On the terrestrial side is it down to just giraffes, lions, and tigers? The elephants and rhinos are long gone. Do they still have walrus and penguins?

Here is a link to a species list I've created: Six Flags DK Species List. But to answer your two other questions: No, there are more than giraffes, lions, and tigers, oh my. Yes penguins are still present but no the last walrus was sent to SeaWorld San Diego about 1.5 years ago. She may return someday though.

Six Flags DK has welcomed a new species: the African crested porcupine (Hystrix cristata). Named Quillow, the young female is currently in quarantine and will join the Discovery Theater Wildlife Experience show. According to Six Flags, "She has filled the void at Discovery Theater, since we lost Quillson our North American porcupine [(Erethizon dorsatum)] late last year."
