Chapultepec Zoo Does anyone have a species list for Chapultepec Zoo?

That would be amazing!

So, I'll start with hoofstock, there are / were from memory :

Baird's tapir
White rhino
Common hippo
Grant's zebra
Bactrian camel
Dromedary camel
Llama
Giraffe (not sure what subspecies)
American bison
Yak
Nilgai
Nyala
Lechwe
Eland
Waterbuck
Blackbuck
Gemsbuck
Scimitar horned oryx
Sable antelope
Fallow deer
Hog deer
Wapiti
Red deer
Sika deer
White tailed deer
Red brocket deer
Collared peccary
Mouflon
Big horned sheep

African elephants were historically present in the collection but were moved to San Juan de Aragon zoo also in Mexico City.

I think the white rhino may be gone now too with the death of the old male "Khartoum" a couple of years ago.

White lipped peccary have been added. Black wildebeest are now in the old rhino enclousure. Yak no longer present but impala have been added, most likely from Africam Safari, Puebla or Guadalajara zoo. The desert bighorn sheep. Are of the Mexican subspecies.

Thanks for that update @carlos55 !

I missed the wildebeest in my previous list for some reason, but I think they were there when I was there and that they shared the giraffe / mixed-species enclosure opposite the lions / spotted hyena.

I seem to remember there being a muntjac too that shared the enclosure now for Asian leopards with a siamang but I may be confusing this with a brocket deer, not too sure.

In terms of old world monkeys, lesser apes and great apes they had :

Western lowland gorilla (now no longer since the passing of the last individual "Bantu")
Hybrid orangutangs (now just a single individual)
Chimpanzees (don't know what subspecies but probably Western)
Siamang
Mandrill
Crab eating macaque (I think this individual died)
Hamydryas baboon
Japanese macaque
Lesser spot nosed monkey (no longer as last individual died)

In terms of New world monkeys they had:

Mexican spider monkey
Mexican black howler monkey
Golden headed lion tamarin
Cotton top tamarin
White lipped tamarin
Pygmy marmoset
Common marmoset
Bolivian squirrel monkey

So for large mammalian carnivores this is what I remember and animals I know have arrived since:

In terms of big cats it was :

African lion
Sumatran tiger (I think this individual may have died)
"Bengal" / "zoomix" tiger
Leopard (I think these were also "zoomix")
Jaguar
Puma

For bears it was :

Polar bear
Grizzly bear
Syrian brown bear
North American black bear
Spectacled bear
Panda

For hyenas :

Spotted hyena
Brown hyena

For canids:

Mexican wolf
Canadian timber wolf
African painted dog
Maned wolf

For pinnipeds:

Californian sealion

Yes the muntjac is gone.
Common and pygymy marmosets went to San Juan de Aragon. Macaque and guenon have passed away. There is now a group of patas monkeys. 3 species of capuchin monkeys are at Chapultepec. They are brown, weeper and white faced.
Chimpanzees are all at San Juan de Aragon now.

Also a breeding group of ring tailed lemurs

Yep definitely remember some of these but forgot them when writing the list.

The capuchins are weeper capuchin and tufted capuchin , I don't remember a third species though.

Patas monkeys definitely remember these in their enclosure by the tigers.

Ring tailed lemurs in their enclosure near the camels and reptile house.

Polar bear and Sumatran tiger have passed away. There is also a pair of melanistic Jaguars. Also Mexican ocelots and margays. Cacomixtle and raccoon. Striped skunks. And of course the 2 groups of raccoons dogs that came from Nagoya zoo.

In terms of smaller mammals there are / were :

Fennec fox
Racoon dog
Racoon
Cacomixtle
Coati
Prarie dog
Capybara
Agouti
Teporingo
African crested porcupine
North American river otter
European polecat
Red panda
Arctic fox
Grey fox
Xoloitzcuintle domestic dog
Bobcat
Ocelot
Jaguarundi
Caracal ?

The white faced capuchin was actually found roaming loose in Paseo de la Reforma Avenue near the US embassy. He was captured and was an escaped pet. He was quite celebrity for a while. I understand Chapultepec is still trying to get him a mate.

Shame about the Sumatran tiger, I remember this individual well, tailless and very aggressive animal, came from a US zoo originally I believe

Ah ha ! Thanks for that information @carlos55 , I thought it would have been rescued from the pet trade

Caracal have bred. Red panda and Xolos are gone. Maras replaced Xolos. Otter went San Juan de Aragon. Fennec fox went to Zacango. Margay replace jaguarundi.

Remember the maras before, there were a handful kept with the old llama by the nyala enclosure so I guess these must be the same individuals.

Ah, then there is also the red and grey kangaroos and bennett's wallaby that I forgot to mention.
