Leopard and Goat Farm Private Collection in Cornwall

Is the shop open though? I'm assuming not (due to lockdown) hence they started selling the (admittedly very tasty looking) confections online recently?
I don't know if it's currently open at the moment, but it was open for times after it opened in July.

I think a better analogy would be when Kobe animal kingdom and its sister location both had a fundraiser after the lockdown in order to raise funds for new enclosures and some of their conservation projects.
Perhaps - but as ThomasNotTom said, it very likely that the species arrivals were planned and organised and funded, (and maybe even happened) well before the pandemic, just as were Twycross' enclosures - hence my comparison. We know very well that such moves can take much longer to plan and execute, than the actual construction work on the enclosures - and once long awaited permits actually do materialise, moves have to be arranged or the opportunity is likely to evaporate.
Yes, as illustrated by the Kobe example, we have to continue to plan assuming we will get through this, rather than roll over and give up.

Todd commented on a instagram post that there are 4 holders of shoebills in Europe correcting the original poster's hashtag claiming that there are three. This might imply that He has shoebills now.

Good news; shoebills are cool.
Bad news; one more cool rare animal just down the road that I have a minimal chance of seeing!

Yes, I know I'm jealous. Let's be honest, we're all jealous!

Abit of a long one but. From a quick Google search a list of dwa licenses issued in cornwall contains a rough list of what's held with numbers. There are 8 in Cornwall I think we can all agree number 2 sound alike leopard and goat farm. Any ideas on the others?

Zoo licenses in operation are

Monkey sanctuary
Screech owl sanctuary (has 2 separate licences for same address)
Newquay zoo
Cornish seal sanctuary
Porfell
Camel creek
Cornish birds of prey Centre
Blue reef aquarium
Paradise park

I think its interesting that lemur or sifaka is listed unlike the other licenses listing ruffed or ringtail. Perhaps hiding an interesting species? And such a large number of saki.

List was from August 2020 so may not be completely accurate now, and obviously doesn't cover non DWA animals.

A quick note....just because someone holds a DWA license does not by any means mean they keep the animal. They may just have the license to allow for potential housing of said species. I would take all of the above list that hasn’t been confirmed (ESPECIALLY pygmy hippo :p ) with a hefty grain of salt...

True but definitely an idea for plans etc

Not really the best idea to post wild speculation about the matter however :p not only is there the pretty good chance of putting two and two together and making five, but even *if* speculation about future plans/aims was indeed on the money, posting said speculation might well damage the chances of said plans coming to pass; something which applies to private collections much as it does for public collections.

Then my point would be don't have the DWA license as they are public record, and considering this was taken from local press and is widely available on the Internet and has been since August I haven't really done anything.
Having the licence implies they either have the animals, have had the animals or are in thr process of obtaining the animals.
And posts on this site seem to be 70% 1st hand accounts 30% speculation, fantasy or back handed comments so I'm not exactly shattering the glass even if I was posting wild speculation.

How is this private collection funded? He can’t have a money tree or bush as they are long extinct, so how does he keep all these animals, pay keepers wages, any other staff possibly involved and not have the public paying to visit? I know there may be grants for bits and bobs etc, (these will be very small I guess if even offered). Is he very wealthy, or what is it about this rather intriguing situation that keeps these animals fed, housed and in health?

I believe he made a lot of money in the growing "insect chocolate" industry and other such artisan foods - and continues to do so, hence the non-zoological aspect of his current site and the existence of a farm shop selling his wares nearby.
