Most beautiful sculptures at zoos ?

@Sarus Crane recently took some brilliant perspective shots on the impressive mammoth sculpture at the Omaha zoo:

Thanks for sharing @geomorph !

These are great ! I particularly like the harpy eagle sculpture at the Miami zoo and the Californian condor sculpture at the San Diego zoo, such interesting styles to these.
Me too! It's so interesting seeing all these sculptures, and the murals on the other thread. It took me a while to realise that my preferred style is 'less is more'. I wondered in the past why I was unmoved by elaborate, gilded cathedrals and so on while others were impressed. I always cite Hallgrimskirkja, the church in Rekyjavik, as one of the best examples of 'less is more'. Its design is inspired by Icelandic nature and it's sublime in its simplicity. Which brings me to a little church in the small Icelandic town of Isafjordur. Its shape represents the waves of the sea and inside is a stunning sculpture/mural of a flock of clay birds. Maybe I can slip a photo of it in here with the excuse of it depicting 'wildlife'?

Thank you for sharing @Gigit ! This is excellent!

I agree, it is a very beautiful sculpture, I'm not fond of churches but it certainly is a beautiful symbolic piece of art conveying the sublime beauty of nature.

The North Carolina Zoo is rife with beautiful sculptures.

A few of my favorites.

Thanks for sharing @Breckenridge !

Some of these like the bison, rhino and vultures I shared earlier in the thread but some of these like the snake ( a beautiful one indeed and probably my favourite of all of these), ibex and extinct birds I haven't seen.

I think the North Carolina zoo in particular really seems to excel with the sculptures and art that they have on display.

The snake is an exceptionally impressive work of art and I can't find any picture that really does it justice. The mural is massive and depicts wildlife in the Sonora Desert throughout the day/night cycle.

Yes, it is a remarkable piece of art and it sort of reminds me of precolombian / Meso-American art and particularly Aztec.

I wonder if it was at least partially inspired by Aztec artifacts.
