Hi, hope that this post is OK - only my second - and doesn't duplicate information already on here.

I have been looking at and researching the current Red Panda population in zoos in the UK and Ireland, and believe that this list is reasonably current. If anyone has information that can complete any of the blanks, add or correct what I have, I would be very interested in updates.

Hope that this works!

Mike

Interesting to see just how widespread these delightful animals are and that the only two major UK zoos not exhibiting them appear to be Belfast & Twycross + West Midlands, Knowsley & BD among the Safari Parks. ZSL and Aspinalls each have them in one collection but not the other. I'm sure somebody will find somewhere else I have omitted though.

Hamerton is probably the most significant zoo you haven't mentioned. Exmoor?

Belfast is on my list and West Midlands is down as Dudley Zoo. Regents Park was the first zoo in the UK to have Red Pandas, I understand, but hasn't had any since 2009 when Tashi moved to Whipsnade.

West Midlands Safari Park is what @Pertinax was referring to, not Dudley!

I'd consider Wild Place too - at least, until the RP at Bristol move there.

Hamerton and Exmoor Zoos haven't got Red Pandas, as far as I know, but I would be happy to be proved wrong....
No offence to Andrew Swales but it was just an observation about the more major zoos, which I didn't feel included them,- however both Hamilton and Exmoor are certainly not to be underestimated as to their quality of collections.
