Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

I went to put a top over an exhibit the other day and found there was no good way to do it other than putting a building over it. Very disappointing. Given it is not an uncommon situation for primates and agile cat species in particular, I expected there to be a decent wah to do it.

You mean like a ceiling on the exhibit? I've been having troubles with this when it comes to climbing structures. They seem to not work when under any kind of roof/ceiling, unless it's like 4 mtrs below it.

A fence type ceiling, like seen here for example.

I don't recall having that issue with climbing structures, but I don't think I've used many indoors.

Oh yes, that's true... It's too bad indeed. That's one of the things that makes me anxious for an aviary pack. We need chain link fences to cover other exhibits that are not for birds also...

Do you know if Frontier is already considering to do it?

Not really sure. Maybe they have a roadmap planned and all of the DLCs will follow the same format. We'll probably know once the next DLC hits this month or on April.

Actually, these non-editable exhibits shouldn't even be in the game, and I'll always say that. It is so disapointing to not be able to build snake, sliders and iguana exhibits...
I'm still bitter at the prospect of green iguanas not being habitat animals despite the fact Nile monitors are.

I have the feeling that Frontier associates wire and mesh with "cruel cages" (this also being the reason why there are no iron bar fences) but they really should give us the chance of building mesh ceilings.

They seem to think zoos are controversial enough for them to run as far as possible to everything related to the stereotypes of "cruelty" in bad zoos, such as iron bars/mesh fences (wich is silly IMO) but once they already have the chain link fence, and there's basically no other way to make a basic aviary without them, they might add these if the aviary pack actually comes. The bars though will probably never show up, but the new world fence support makes an excellent iron bar, check out this outdated exhibit and some handling areas I built for a vintage zoo project of mine:

Worth noting though we do have red brick, corrugated metal, steel mesh, and chain link as fences though.

And if we're supposed to mention "cruelty", the eletric fences we've got in the game are way worse than the iron bars. ( Not saying I'm against this kind of barrier though, but if this is their logic, I think there's definitely something wrong...)

So what are we predicting for habitat animals featured in an Asian DLC? I'm thinking:

Sun Bear (Obviously), Babirusa, Gibbon (any species) and possibly Clouded Leopard... although I'm doubtful as a bear and a cat in one pack seems unlikely.

I imagine they may go for another species instead of a CL, so I'd love to hear what you guys think it could be?

We are expecting an asian DLC but only because the sun bear is, well, endemic to Asia, but what if the theme of the pack is different?

I still have hope that we will get flying critters in this next Dlc, so... My bet is for hornbills (any species, but I'd personally love if they were sulawesi knobbed or the rhino ones), sun bear, malayan tapir (due to the similarity with the baird's tapir, wich would make it easier for them to create) and flying fox, as @Great Argus suggested, would be pretty possible specimens IMO.

There is this possibility indeed. The aquatic pack was already a break in the geographically themed packs, and they could pretty well do it again. I just don't understand why one more bear species... I mean, I really like sun bears, but there are many other stuff that we need more than them at the game right now... Possibly a strategy to keep us playing for longer and having to wait more for the important missing things...

Binturong could be a possibility, they're reasonably well known. I would love to see something avian but unfortunately that seems unlikely at the moment. I'd love to be surprised though.

This is hitting the nail on the head. This is why the Polar Bear heads the Arctic DLC, the Jaguar and Giant Anteater the SA DLC, and the Red Kangaroo and Koala the Aussie one. All species that should have been in the base pack, but they needed something tempting to get DLC purchases. The aquatic pack animals are passable for missing the base pack as long as the animations were still in development at the time. Still though, it took a long time to get a pinniped and penguin in-game.

Why are there No new Free animals.

I think they should make at least the populär Penguins, komodo dragons, kangaroos, Koalas, jaguars and Polar bears Free in the Base Game.
