I loved Taronga Zoo's leopard seal they held for a while too - was very impressive, I believe it was the only one in captivity anywhere in the world?
I wish that the Cincinnati Zoo still had Sumatran Rhinoceros
Hi, Simon. The Niterói zoo (Brazil) also kept a leopard seal little in 2007 (probably off-show, but I'd say it still counts), obtained from a rescue in Angra dos Reis. The institution closed its doors back in 2010.Adelaide Zoo's Chilean flamingos are sorely missed. Will never be replaced due to our strict biosecurity laws.

Yes. After the Niterói zoo released the leopard seal back into the wild, the Taronga zoo became the only one to keep one of those. I believe the Brazilian institution released the animal shortly after it arrived there. The leopard seal at Taronga was euthanased in 2014, so I guess between 2010 when Niterói zoo closed and 2014, the Taronga leopard seal was the only one in captivity?
Do you know what happened to the leopard seal when they shut down? Was it released?
Do you mean false gharial? After some research, here's another list for Omaha

I haven't heard if the first spellingGavial and gharial are synonyms and both accepted spellings I believe.
It's not as used in English, but it is technically correct. It's the norm in Spanish and other latin languages, however.I haven't heard if the first spelling
I don't know why I used it, easier to speller me I suppose. It's not as used in English, but it is technically correct. It's the norm in Spanish and other latin languages, however.
Luckily both species are kept at US facilities (Galagos are up here in Omaha as well). So don't worry too much!I think the Kansas City Zoo used to keep galagos and African Fish Eagles, but apparently they were removed at some point before I visited there for the first time, which is really disappointing since they are both animals I really want to see.
