The black footed ferret in US zoos

Coincidentally I just received my first issue of my subscription to Arizona Wildlife Views, published every other month by Arizona Game & Fish Commission. They are looking for volunteers to spotlight for ferrets during night surveys in summer. It's not something I have time to do, but it would be an opportunity to see them in the wild...

I think you should definitely apply to be a volunteer if you get some time, what an incredible opportunity to see such an endangered species in the wild !

They both get the vaccine. It's not only that they are afraid the prairie dogs will die out, it's that they don't want the prairie dogs to spread it to the ferrets.

That's the million dollar question. It's a recent observation and something they are working on now.

I can imagine, it would be a nightmare if it was to wipe out both prey and predator.

I mean it is easily treatable nowadays but obviously it is incredible difficult logistically to try to stamp these kinds of pandemics out in remote areas.

It sounds like a really interesting question and I would like to find out more about how they are researching this with a mind of improving reintroduction and survivorship of ferrets.
