He is, 17 years old meanwhile. Osnabrück is an EAZA zoo, the birth was an unexpected accident and they keep him until he dies but do not breed.

I should have specified AZA, where the species wouldn't be kept together. Thanks for answering about Taps

I believe Minnesota has/had Pileated, one or two other zoos have as well.

I've seen Greater Yellownape at San Diego, and I've heard of quite a few other species being kept at various zoos.

Fort Worth had a woodpecker species in their American aviary, but I don't remember what species and don't have many photos from there

Yes, San Diego had some 3 years ago and I doubt they died or were imported out. They might be behind the scenes but are most likely in Lost Forest somewhere or Asian Savanah at the Safari Park.

There's 2 photos by 2 different people of them in early 2020 at San Diego in Lost Forest so hypothetically they still have them.

Not US but Calgary has them too, photos were recently uploaded.
