The zoo have decided to close permanently. The animals will be moving to other collections.

Unfortunately, the owners made the same mistake as RSCC. Many local people didn't know it was there; I had problems finding its location and the woman in Ware's Tourist Information Centre hadn't heard of it.
Similarly, there were no signposts pointing the direction to RSCC from Sandwich station and no leaflets in Tourist Information.

Such sad news. I have good memories of their Cuban hutias, raccoon dogs, and corsac foxes in particular.
@Dassie rat I completely agree. Most locals I know haven't heard of it either. They were doing so well before the current crisis, with plans to expand into other parts of the nearby garden centre and grounds. It was always deathly quiet when I visited, and indeed is just too small to implement safe social distancing.

Wasn't the miniature railway there already? Has the track layout changed to include the old Ventura area?

I would think so. Before the zoo at Van Hages was opened, Ventura was a zoo animal transport and animal encounters business, so it looks like this job is to look after the encounter animals at a new location (the animal list also looks very similar to what was at Ventura)
That’s what triggered me to ask the question.
To add up, I don’t think there would be many zoos willing to accept their animals easily when their income has been cut by the virus and the government’s response.
