Hi there!

They're among my favorites, too :) Muntjac have been popping up everywhere the last couple of years. Welcome!

Welcome to ZooChat! :):)

I am a fan of pretty much all ungulates but unfortunately a vast majority of these animals (including most small deer/antelope species) are slowly disappearing from AZA zoos :(:( Anyways, what small hoofstock species have you had the chance to see?

Nice to meet a fellow muntjac aficionado :D It’s so hard to find muntjacs because they’re never listed on zoo’s websites :( So I just go to zoos and cross my fingers that I’ll see them! Columbus Zoo’s muntjac exhibit is pure magic though.

I’ve seen dik diks, mouse deer, klipspringers, musk deer, muntjacs, and others that I’m definitely forgetting. I’d love to see blue duikers and royal antelopes but they’re hard to come by.

There's no royal antelope in the US currently :( Your closest zoo with blue duiker would be Erie, then NEW Zoo and Maryland Zoo.

Thank you! I travel the US quite a bit so I can make these stops. I think San Diego has royal antelope but they aren’t on display…?

Nope, all the ones in the USA have passed away. Many species have threads on here with lists of places you can see them, btw. Some are exhaustive and include everything, like my felids thread and the one for croc species, while some stick to more typical zoos, like the deer and antelope one (Where do the Deer & Antelope Play?: A Look at America's Ungulate Populations). I personally keep track of most mammals so feel free to PM me if you're having trouble finding a species :)
