Where do the Deer & Antelope Play?: A Look at America's Ungulate Populations

They mostly come from game ranches in Texas.

That's why I was asking. I'm in the industry but I had no idea they were moving through it. Like I said the past few years Giraffes have gotten common (while still expensive). I didn't know white and Asian rhinos were in the system so to speak.

Now I got lofty new goals haha.

I'm going to attempt to finally fully update and finish this thread over the next few weeks. Apologies if I miss any of the updates you guys have provided over the last however many months, I will do my best to make sure I caught them all and feel free to comment anything I miss again!

The Safari Park page has giraffes with Nubian patterns and I have seen old guides that list them. I can go through some old photos later to check.
We know that SDZSP has giraffes with Nubian blood in them, as is very obvious by looking at their pattern. What we don't know is if they still have any pure Nubian because the reticulated-Nubian giraffes in zoos, or at least in American collections, have been managed and breed together for a while now. I do know the Safari Park was one of the last places to mix their giraffes and they resisted for quite a while but we don't know if any of the remaining animals are still pure.

My understanding is that they have both, including some (idk how many) very old pure males left. It's possibly this data has become outdated in the almost a year since I created the thread, though.

But yes, @Westcoastperson many hybrid giraffes exhibit the Rothschild's/Nubian phenotype.

The newly-opened Shamba Safari keeps Arabian Oryx, Common Eland, European Fallow Deer, Generic Giraffe, Indian Rhino, Grevy's Zebra, Nilgai, Plains Zebra, Scimitar-horned Oryx, Southern White Rhino, Common Waterbuck, Common Wildebeest, and possibly Banteng.

Where did you see this? I've never heard of the place before and they don't seem to have a proper website.

In México Leon zoo has a male okapi. Along with the Mexican zoos mentioned above Leon, Morelia, Merida and Neza zoos have bred the so called retículated giraffes . Also many comercial Safari parks in México have 1 or a pair of generic giraffes but that information is quite disperse.

Yes they are listed on the website.

Did you ever see it? It never shows up on an inspection report, going back 7 years. I assume it would have come from six flags, maybe one that didn't get along with the herd? But seems like it must have been a long time ago.

I did not see it. Today was my first visit. Maybe it could have been bts?
