Two waterbuck escaped on Saturday and were killed after failed attempts to get them back into their enclosure. The decision to euthanise them was made because they are a category 1 animal and the park was open to the public at the time, meaning public safety was a risk
Yeah definitely not a good reputation for themMore escapes in less than 12 months!!! Starting to get embarrassing
Random fact but the three rescue bears from Andorra were featured on This Morning with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary at Port Lympne Zoo![]()
According to what I saw, they have arrivedI'm not seeing any news on their pages of the bears' actual arrival. Are they still in Spain or have they in fact arrived ?
I believe it is Rukuru born to Nyasa x Sammy in 2016 at the zooAny ideas on which 2 rhinos have been/will be moved to Tanzania with Chanua? I'm guessing Mizi as she was moved from Howletts, was it definitely three females that were going?

'A three-acre woodland sanctuary'. This must encompass much of the woodland on the slope in the vicinity of the old Tapir enclosures- if that is where they are. A plan and the extent of the enclosure would be interesting to see. Also, have they built new indoor accomodation for them, or redesigned the Tapir/Sumatran rhino house perhaps?Their arrival has just been announced on social media in last couple of minutes
The bears have taken all the woodland area on left side of hill, previously used by the tapir. The house looked finished 2 months ago!A new litter of lion cubs has been born.
the brown bears are on the left hand side of the slope that goes down towards carnivore territory opposite the tapirs. Theres a new house down the bottom of the hill but I think its just shipping containers.
She has a litter of four they are 5wks old out and about looking very well xxI saw that someone had stayed at the park and had saw Cubs but I can’t believe. They would have another set so soon after what happened, they haven’t even updated any info lately on the remaining cub
Still with the older pride members or were they seperated this time? So that could be up to nine(?) Lions for the new enclosure or possibly even 10, if they reintroduced the handraised survivor. Surprised they let them breed again though, but perhaps the soon-to-be enormous new enclosure is the reason. She has a litter of four they are 5wks old out and about looking very well xx
Underwhelming as a new development. In my view no need to take a few bears from Central Europe to U.K. Just for animal welfare sake. There could be local much cheaper alternatives and less of this PR/marketing conservation green washing. Do we really need more sanctuaries....? I am sure we need better zoos and captive ex situ facilities and this is not the conservation ethics best solution. The bears have taken all the woodland area on left side of hill, previously used by the tapir.
