Mixed species exhibit ideas

Asian Savannah

Indian Gaur
Eld's Deer
Indian Rhino
Sambar
Black Buck
Indian Muntjac
Nilgai
Chital
Indian Hog Deer
Javan Banteng
Grey Langur
Barasinga
Visayan warty pig

This list is way too long, and Gaur and rhino would definitely go wrong

Maybe what you could do is make this into multiple exhibits: One with Eld's deer, Nilgai, Indian hog deer and Javan banteng, two with Indian rhinoceros, Sambar and Chital, three with Gaur, Water deer, Barasinga, Pere david's deer, Blackbuck and Babirusa. The smallest species would be able to walk between the two enclosures (only the Langur, Warty pig and Muntjac)

Not sure if Malayan tapir could go in a larger mix, maybe in a smaller one though

You could design an exhibit where it creates the illusion that it's one big enclosure

Actually eld's Deer and Indian rhino have been together at Chester zoo, to create the illusion of one massive exibhit you can use invisible or natural barriers

What primate species would you reccomend mixing with Pygmy hippos?

How well do multiple lemur species mix? Do certain species mix better than others and under what circumstances do they mix well?

The valencia Biopark keeps drills a very close relative to mandrills are kept together with pymgy hippo, and Chester Zoo houses a bachelor group of red ruffed lemurs together a breeding group of ring tailed lemurs and they get along fine

Most zoos keep two different lemur species together, I think with the right species you might be able to do three, but not more than that. I'll check ZTL though

Edit: Black-and-white ruffed lemur have a lot of three-lemur mixes, Naturzoo rheine even has a mix of five lemurs (Black and white ruffed lemur, Ring-tailed lemur, Red ruffed lemur, Crowned lemur, Red-bellied lemur). As well as a four-lemur mix in Pairi Daiza (Black-and-white ruffed, Ring-tailed, Crowned and Red ruffed)

I should mention that all three-lemur mixes so far are Black-and-white ruffed lemur, Ring-tailed lemur and one different species, but that might just be because of the popularity of the ring-tailed lemurs

I know that Baird's Tapir, Capybara, Giant Anteater, and Greater Rhea have been mixed together, but could Pampas Deer and possibly Marsh Deer be mixed in with them if the exhibit was big enough?

Yeah they could be, as long as they are compatible with the other species

I have seen both prairie dogs and burrowing owls mixed with road runners. Would it be possible to mix all 3 species together in a large aviary ?

Could Brown Capuchin, Squirrel Monkey, Black-handed Spider Monkey, Common Woolly Monkey, Black Howler Monkey, White-faced Saki, Black-bearded Saki, and Columbian White-faced Capuchin be mixed together if the exhibit was large enough? If not all of them, which combinations would work?

If the exhibit is large enough it would atleast in theory it should work. But you should avoid mixing the 2 capuchins species together. Not only could they hybridize, but the males would fight

I know this sounds stupid, but just out of curiosity is there any way that okapis could be mixed with gorillas?

Would a mix between african spurred tortoises, kirk's dikdik and bat-eared foxes and gunea fowl work together ?
There is a very similar mix at Living Desert of with no guinea fowl and hyrax instead of dik dik so that should work. I believe guinea fowl are larger than bat eared foxes and I’ve never heard of Bat eared foxes being particularly violent towards larger animals.

“In a big enough exhibit” no just no, don’t mix okapis with gorillas.
