What does "unspecified big cat" mean? They weren't signed at all, or were actually signed as something unhelpful?

Sorry I should have clarified. Those two exhibits were signed for Amur tiger, South African lion, and Sumatran tiger (I presume they rotate) but I couldn't see any cat in them hence I'm unsure which (sub)species they normally exhibit. The other two exhibits were also signed for all three cats but they had extra signage talking about the specific individuals in them, hence I could determine which (sub)species was present.

I am surprised SF Zoo has never brought pinnipeds back.

I am surprised SF Zoo has never brought pinnipeds back.
The pool was a little too shallow for sea lions. Harbour seals or some other smaller species makes more sense. I’ve also hear that the zoo has considered using it for Sea Otters in the future.
Northern California is in a bad drought though, so out of environmental concerns cutting back costs and water usage for the time being makes sense. The zoos hippo pool is also empty.

The zoos hippo pool is also empty.
The hippo has left and is now in Cincinnati, so that would explain the empty pool.
I am surprised SF Zoo has never brought pinnipeds back.
Unfortunately instead of highlighting this historic exhibit and giving home to rescue Water Fowl in need, while waiting for rescue Pinniped in need, which would have to be sightless I'm told, because of depth of pool, the SFZoo has chosen to destroy evwr being able to use it again by filling it in and choosing it to home the Condors.
