I have visited the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center on August 21, and since there is no info on this facility on the ZooChat, took photos of every exhibit and posted them in the gallery.

The park only houses species that are native to New Hampshire (or at least used to live in New Hampshire), and is the only "zoo" in the state. Below is the live exhibit list:
  • Trailhead Gallery (barred owl, white-foot mice)
  • Water Matters Pavilion (mink, 3 species of turtles, and a few species of frogs and fish)
  • Coyote
  • Red Fox; Gray Fox and Fisher (on rotation)
  • Bobcat
  • Cougar
  • White-tailed Deer
  • North American River Otter
  • Black Bear
  • Raptor Aviaries (red-tailed hawk, northern goshawk, great horned owl, red-shouldered hawk, broad-winged hawk, bald eagle, turkey vulture)

How did you like your visit? I've been to this place a few times when in New Hampshire, and I have always been thoroughly impressed by it, all of their exhibits are phenomenal and they have a nice collection of native species dispersed along a beautiful trail.

Actually I liked the place very much, especially considering the fact that this was the first new zoo that I have visited since the pandemic began! The place is beautiful, the collection is interesting, and I even photographed a few life ticks (mink, goshawk)

Any unusual species of frog or turtle?
The following species were signed: spotted turtle, painted turtle, common musk turtle, wood frog (Lithobates sylvaticus), pickerel frog (Rana palustris), bullfrog, green frog (Rana clamitans), grey treefrog (Hyla versicolor), and American toad (Bufo americanus). I have seen all the turtles, but just a couple species of frogs.

Thank you

The barred owl in the first building is currently off exhibit (being used as an ambassador animal), the sign said the exhibit was closed for repairs.

The fish tank in Water Matters is a cold water tank with local species. Signed are brook trout, brown bullhead, black crappie, white perch, yellow perch, largemouth bass, white sucker, bluegill, pumpkinseed, and redbreast sunfish.

There's a Celebrate Birds building, before the raptor aviaries, that has one exhibit with American bittern and Black-crowned night-heron, and another with Broad-winged hawk. There's an American kestrel before the bald eagles, as well.

They have a few other species as ambassadors and do presentations throughout the day. I got to see an adorable saw-whet owl :)
