Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo Beardsley Zoo News 2021

In a article I saw it said she was going to a midwestern zoo so my guess would be Potter Park Zoo but it could also be Henry Vilas zoo.

In a article I saw it said she was going to a midwestern zoo so my guess would be Potter Park Zoo but it could also be Henry Vilas zoo.

I don't believe Henry Vilas will be bringing in any other tigers too soon. For a short period of time, they had Shakura and Pelo, their 1.1 pair of African Lions, their 2.0 boys, and then 1.1 Amur Tigers. They were going to try to breed the Tigers, but they didn't have the room due to the boys having to rotate with their parents.

Both of those Tigers were transferred to other facilities. Kuza is their current Amur.

Amboseli was transferred to a different zoo a few months ago, but they're basically in the same situation. If Ansel is transferred to a different zoo soon I could see them bringing in another.

On October 28th, the zoo announced the arrival of a (0.1) white-naped crane named Cora. She came from the Bronx Zoo in New York, and also brought along a crew from Animal Planet's The Zoo who will feature the zoo in an episode.

Does anyone know which two maned wolves are currently at the zoo

0.1, Bonita - February 7, 2011 - Nazca x Lana
0.1, Sabana - December 27, 2017 - Paulo x Bonita
0.1, Guapa - December 27, 2017 - Paulo x Bonita
1.0, Goncalo - December 27, 2017 - Paulo x Bonita

These four are the wolves I have listed. Are they down to two now?

Mom Bonita passed away in 2019 and they didn’t specify where it went but one of the pups left for another zoo

I’m most likely visiting Beardsley this weekend. Does anybody want me to get any questions answered or wondering anything that I could figure out?

The Giant anteater pup is a female (great news for the breeding programme):

Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo has received verification from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) Anteater Advisory Group that the Giant anteater pup born on June 15 is a female.

That the baby’s gender is female is welcome news for the species, as the population in Giant anteaters is skewed more heavily toward males than females.

Here is the plan for the Andean bear habitat and some construction photos.
