Did the keeper left the zoo to go to the airport to receive the giraffes? And they are 6? Zebras too? That's some nice additions to the park. Of course, exotics like these are expensive to keep, but I hope their arrival brings enough visitors to the zoo to compensate the expenses with their keeping, and the profit goes (at least a part) to the conservation programs of native species. Now that you gave these news, I'm planning to visit the zoo one more time as soon as possible.
i believe that 6 giraffes will arrive but i might be wrong, about the zebras it's something that also believe it will happen.
I wouldn't be surprised if they are 6 indeed, but i tend to think they will add less individuals. Something like three or four would be ok for the size of that exhibit. About the zebras, I hope they bring a considerably big group, as they are gregary animals...

Oh, nine? That's really a lot. Having this many animals is surely gonna be helpful to establish a healthy group behavior. I'm only a little doubtfull if the african savanna exhibit is going to have enough space for all these individuals... I mean, I saw it personally, and it is a very large enclosure, buy nine giraffes? And keeping in mind there is going to be zebras and other hoofstock held there too...

Well, that's the minimun they need to do. I even think they should have made that island smaller in order to give more space to the hoofstock. About rhinos, I really doubt they are gonna be held in the same area. Nine giraffes, zebras, wildebeests and impalas would be ok, maybe, but rhinos would by no means fit well in an exhibit of that size. The whole complex is like 12.000 sq meters (more or less 3 acres) but the free area (that is not occupied by the island, the river, the path, the handling areas and the hippo exhibit) is only 4.000 sq meters (1 acre) wich would be quite small to hold such an amount of megafauna.

That makes absolutely no sense. The former hippo exhibit is mostly composed by water area. I'm quite sure this information is mistaken. Even the former llama enclosure, wich has held rhinos in the past, would be a better option, and it's also empty.
yes, i disagree with that, but you know the non renovated area? andré told me that the people who worked at the zoo have been working in this area, i agree that the former llama enclosure would be a better option.
Yes, the non renovated area seems to have started to be demolished to give place to the next developments. I hope they build nice exhibits there.

there's a guy named haroldo furuya, he's a veterinary who works in an ecological park, he's been in portobello resort working with the animals. And recently according to the aeroin site, it showed the arriving of the giraffes, i thought it was 2, but i asked andré and he told me that they brought 9 giraffes but it seems like only 3 of the 9 giraffes will go to the bioparque.
