Well he said taronga then Cincinnati so it’s hard to tell. I’m only saying it’s the American one because it’s distinctly named national zoo.Ah thought he wasn't referring to the US anymore

With kiwis?Several countries have zoos called National Zoo.
Historically they sometimes kept over 100 giraffes at one time, zootierliste suggests they have now 'only' circa 25.
With kiwis?
It’s under the Smithsonian umbrella and Smithsonian does breed them. (The group not the zoo) point still stands the Smithsonian is most likely what the original poster was referring to.Smithsonian's are at SCBI, not the zoo.

Yes I Was Referring to The Smithsonian National Zoo. I did not realize other places were called the same thing, sorry for the confusion.Yes, it’s clearly the Smithsonian they’re referring to as they’re the most successful outside of New Zealand in breeding kiwis. One pair alone produced eight offspring within their (relatively short) 15 year lifespan.
New Zealand has a National Aquarium (in Napier) but does not have a National Zoo. Our four main zoos are Auckland Zoo, Hamilton Zoo, Wellington Zoo and Orana Wildlife Park.
Yes you are correct my apologies. The Cincinnati Zoo has had around 80 red panda births while the Knoxville Zoo has had more than 110.I want to say Knoxville is the leader for red pandas.
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Seaworld for orcas (albeit the controversy and eco-type mixing)
I will say SeaWorld has lead in the breeding of many other species: bottlenose Dolphins, comersons Dolphins, belugas, walruses, Humboldt penguins, flamingo, emperor Penguin, king penguin, puffins, sea turtles, endangered frogs (supposedly).
