I might have actually seen that first incident firsthand. The only time we ever visited this location we saw a keeper attempting to shift a primate (I cannot remember if it was the baboon or not) into a side area to clean the main area. He first tried luring it in with food, which it then snatched from his hand. The second time he tried grabbing it when it walked near, in which it bit his hand. He then responded by entering with a stick and beating the monkey several times. I was so horrified I immediately left and have never returned. My friend and I make a point to visit as many zoos as we can but we have never seen an incidence of actual animal cruelty on par with this in our 20+ zoo excursions, given the state the place is in I am shocked it hasn't been shut down.

The zoo will no longer be open on a daily basis. They're switching to the only offering $$ encounters model, with wolves, lemurs, and sloths being the current offerings and capybara and macropods coming in the future.
