Leopard and Goat Farm Private Collection in Cornwall

Many thanks to Mr Dalton for his comments. More power to your arm!

You have encapsulated what I have been saying for a long time about people (who, charitably, may be described as young/naive), who let their obsession override their manners, and post things that are intrusive and/or insensitive and speculative.

I am always interested to hear of rare and unusual animals and their stories, regarding keeping them on captivity (and you seem to do a lot of this).

However, I am appalled by the speculation regarding personal and business matters that some seem to have a ghoulish enthusiasm to feast on. It seems related to our tell all/know all "celeb" culture.

It seems that keeping an interesting collection of animals qualifies you as such in some people's eyes unfortunately.

As I have never seen you on any zoo related TV or radio interviews, I'm assuming you don't seek the publicity that some commercial zoos do, so I totally agree you have your rights of privacy.

I wish you all the very best in your ongoing endeavours and that you have the ability/enthusiasm to continue your collection for years to come.

Regards

...but sadly these days Zoos in the UK particularly, seem to be more of an attraction than a Zoo and the focus has moved away from Animals and more to the $ coming into the gate and how to maximise that...

The same is true here in USA (and I assume in many other countries).

Also thanks for taking the time to create a ZooChat account and tell your side of the story.

Thanks Gary Im sure you will hear more from me in future

Welcome to Zoochat, and thanks for your detailed and frank first post putting various things straight :) as noted already by @FBBird anything you are able and willing to contribute to the site will be more than welcome - and I say this not merely as a moderator of the forum, but also as someone who rather notoriously has a strong soft spot for obscure small mammals of the sort you have championed over the years, and wishes more was done to raise their profile.
Thank You, I will hopefully be able to shed a more accurate light on what we ACTUALLY do for your interest

I know that I should have said this three days sooner but I would like to apologize to Mr. Dalton and his team for taking part in the speculation.

As a new member just wondering if this thread should be in private collections / pets?

Just navigating the threads on zoos I thought they were acknowledged institutions at least in some part open to the public and this appears to be neither.

Only wondering - I don’t care about the speculation either way but thought it worth saying that I read this thread thinking it was a zoo (as it was in the zoo section) and so might be open and googled it etc to find out more which might happen to other new people and which the owner appears to find offensive. Perhaps if the thread was in private collections vs just oddly named as such (I thought it was just a name after all paradise isn’t actually er…paradise) it would be crystal clear?

One of the reasons to join this sort of forum is to find new places to visit that experienced zoo chatters love / recommend or highlight (for me anyway, the top zoos list or discussion on top exhibits are great list making opportunities!) so this thread sticks out in a bit of a weird way.

As I said. Newbie point.

They have occasional open days, which your average private collection doesn’t

It is a private collection not a zoo.

They are closed to the public and hostile to scrutiny. Seems pretty private to me.
Hostile seems unnecessary.
I'm sure someone speculating on my animal collection on a private forum would result in a less pleasant response than Todd has given here.
In my opinion, he's been remarkably forthcoming for what is his private business, after all.
He doesn't court interest or publicity.

Well said.

Depends, what licences does it hold?
Zoo
DWA
AAL

Find out for yourself, I have no idea...

It's a personal private collection as far as I am concerned, so in that case we keep our noses out. Ask the owner, see if he replies to you maybe...?

Hi Todd, do you or anyone know what types of hyena and cat species is there at the farm?

I'm sure Todd knows exactly what species he has as he OWNS the place! I would be very surprised if he doesn't!

What you mean is, YOU would like to know, but I doubt you will find out as it isn't a zoo. It's a private collection and not open to the public, as mentioned many times before.

There are probably security concerns involved, given animals are regularly stolen from private collections.

Some of the nosey on here would want species lists, photos and maps of the layout! Ideal for the unscrupulous collector!

They will announce what they want to announce, and that's it, really.
