Which animal terrifies you the most?

We all love animals here, but there are probably some that we prefer to stay away from at all costs.

For me, I absolutely loathe the sight of a cockroach. I can't stand their prickly feets, their poop-colored bodies, and the thought of accidentally squishing them makes me cringe hard. And if they FLY, I'll probably gonna scream.

And then there's Asian Giant Hornet. Wasps are bad enough, but what if you made it twice as large, ten times more aggressive, and ten times uglier? You get this monstrosity. I'm not even gonna approach them even if they're locked in an enclosed cage. That's just how terrifying they are to me.
 
Small domestic goats. As a child one knocked me down and started chewing on my clothes at Brookfield Zoo. As an adult, I understand what happened, but as a child it scarred me for life. I thought it was going to eat me. Now I know the fear is unjustified, but it is still there. Have I cavorted with the Nigerian Dwarf Goats since? Of course. Did I do it while giving them significant side-eye? You betcha.

Yeah goats can be pretty scary as well. I'd imagine I'd have a hard time dealing with a particularly grumpy one.
 
Aside from the very obvious number one, humans - just watch the news, read the newspaper or take a look at any comment section to know why our own species is absolutely terrifying - I loathe the sight or even traces of the presence of pest species of mice and rats. I don't know exactly why, but I really despise their scurrying, how they can be so close to humans yet stay pretty well hidden, how difficult they can be to control and their potential to do damage or cause disease.

There are several species of non-human primates that I would never want to be anywhere near without a barrier, including chimpanzees and baboons. Their teeth, strength, intelligence and proclivity towards using violence are scary.

I also really don't like wasps, whether is it the common or German wasps/yellow jackets, European hornets or the Asian "murder hornets". For some reason wasps always seem to take a very unwanted interest in being in my proximity, or that of my food or drinks, and I can't stand them. I have only been stung once and barely noticed it, so it's like I'm allergic to them or anything. But I just really stand them. During the summer I generally carry some kind of insect repellent which helps somewhat in keeping them away.
 
Probably the only ones (besides my own species) would be eusocial wasps and bees in hot days and near their nests. If they're far from their nests or if it's a cold day/season, then I'm not scared of them, and of course also if they're not eusocial species.

I absolutely love cockroaches (that generally are not less poop-coloured than, say, mammals), but while I'm not scared of domestic goats I find them ugly.

Dogs are super predictable if you're willing to learn :) Being domestic, they tend to give obvious signs of how they feel and in particular if they're upset/angry, it's just a matter of knowing what those look like.

I also hate the sight of sewer rats due to the fact that it screams the place is unsanitary and the tales of horror of the diseases they brought terrifies me.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't approach a chimpanzee without a barrier. Not since what happened to Charla Nash.

I also generally not really like wasps, and then the giant hornets just existed to amplify my fear of them ten times worse.
 
I guess I’ll have to say that the thought of meeting an angry me terrifies me!!! I can’t fathom what I would do to me if I were to be in a bad mood :eek:

When I visited Kruger Park, the baboons would come into the BBQ areas and steal food from the table/ cool boxes. They'd sit on the roofs of the shelters and watch you until you turned your back and then swoop down en masse. Pretty scary tbh. But I got some great pics ;)

Sounds like something I should watch, especially considering that what Hermes said sounds like something I would say.
