No wombats at the park according to their latest USDA inspection report.
I had the privilege of attending a Donor's Preview of Wildlife Explorers Basecamp this morning. I have uploaded a few photos. I feel they did a great job. It is pretty amazing. It was a little overwhelming with all the things to do and see. Even though it was donors only it was crowded. I can't imagine how crowded it will be on opening day! I thought I heard somewhere that Houston’s last wombat had passed away. Is this not the case?
Additionally, I don’t think they’ve been listed on any of their recent U.S.D.A inspections.

Lily should still be there afaik. She's only middle aged for a wombat.
The last usda report from Houston with any wombat is Jan 2016.
Each holding a different subspecies, too.
I never saw any sign of wombat in 2018.

Did you see what species they have? I know someone mentioned earlier there were no surprise rare species but I’ve still held out a little bit of hope.
Like Argus mentioned earlier, Chinese Salamander and South America lungfish are quite rare. In regards to “surprise” species, the website says they have caiman on habitat in the basecamp which I don’t believe was announced earlier. When I said there were no surprise rarities, I was referring to mammals only.
Dwarf caiman is the species that's on exhibit. I believe coconut crab was mentioned at one point as well which is also very welcome.
Although this is a species already on-exhibit in a different part of the zoo.
Was the animal ambassador building scrapped from the new children's zoo?
There are a few exhibits in the childrens zoo that hold ambassador animals.
I’ll be going next Monday and Tuesday to do a photo shoot the whole complex, I should be getting a new lens before then to try out there

Houston's wombat moved to Toledo. She is a wild-born individual and came into care at Healesville Sanctuary (Victoria, Australia) and was then exported to the US. There is a livestream about her from June 2020 on Toledo's FB page.
Thank you for the confirmation. Lily and another wombat, Lullaby, were both noted as coming from Melbourne (Healesville Sanctuary) back in 2014. Not sure on the current whereabouts of Lullaby though.
