During August 2016 the Naturschutz-tierpark obtained 2 pairs of Etruscan pygmy shrews ( Suncus etruscus ) and now the species has been placed on display.
A female Siberian pallas' cat (Otocolobus manul manul) arrived from Parco Faunistico La Torbiera (Italy), she will be paired to the three-year old male that already lives at the tierpark. Hopefully the arrival of this female will result in offspring, this species has never bred in Tierpark Görlitz (they have kept this species since 1999).

Sad and good news from Görlitz.
Last year the pair of Greater hill mynas (Gracula religiosa intermedia) bred for the first time, this year three young in two broods were raised. Sadly within four days, both adult birds and the two young of the second brood died. Later examinations revealed that they had died from the Usutu virus. The young from the first brood survived since he was separated from the rest, this young has been send to Vogelpark Marlow.
Currently Görlitz has no greater hill mynas.
Tierpark Görlitz will start constructing a new enclosure adjacent to its Tibetan village for Asiatic black bears. The enclosure will be in the same style as the excellent Tibetan village, so that sounds promising. Construction should start in spring 2024 and the bears should arrive at the latest in spring 2025.
The Tierpark will receive pure subspecific ussuricus bred in Chleby and Dessau. An EEP for this subspecies was recently created, so hopefully we will see more of these cold weather bears in the future.
At the end of last year male Siberian pallas' cat (Otocolobus manul manul) Norbu was send to Diergaarde Blijdorp. This marks the end of this species at Zoo Görlitz.
