Cheers, I love watching the polar 2 bears they are great fun
I agree. Every time you go they are usually very active and a dream to photograph or film. Yesterday, they were playing with a canoe, jumping on it, manoeuvring it to the water edge, diving in and out. Then they were called by Mum for a liquid lunch!

Visited today, had a fantastic time as usual. Apparently Mum decided this weekend it was the time for the cubs to leave. They appear to be separated into three groups. The boys are due to move over imminently to the main polar bear area. They are still hoping mum will accept the female cub back once the boys have moved over to the other side of the park.

Will Yorkshire breed from flocke and which male or males would be suitable. I would love to see the park have babies.

I heard Hamish and Luka have been castrated because they get to aggressive in breeding season (but it’s just what I’ve heard from other visitors ) so I’d say Nobby is most suitable

A walkthrough aviary focussed on the evolution of birds would be a fascinating concept, but something that would go way over the heads of both kids and the general public.

They’d be tipping up expecting to see an animatronic T-rex roaring its head off; and if promised a raptor, would expect nothing less than Blue rather than a bird of prey.

Kew used to have a fantastic Evolution House which used a mixture of live plants, models, fossils, and practical effects to depict the development of plants. I've always thought that such an exhibit would be an excellent basis for a herp house/aquarium with a few significant small mammal and bird species such as Tupaia and Tinamous.

Had my first visit of this year yesterday and it was a really good day. This place is by far my favourite zoo that I have ever been to. I finally saw the sea lions in the large pool which is the first time in 4 visits so I was happy with that. I don't know how many camels that the park has but they were split up into 3 groups. There was one on its own which I guess is the male. There were another 2 which had a section of the house and one of the yards and then there was 5 together in the large field which included the 2 young ones.

Flocke was on her own yesterday as previously mentioned in this thread and there was a sign at the enclosure explaining why. The 3 cubs were together in the larger enclosure at the front.

In the morning the giraffes were out in the large area with the other species but then by mid day they were back in there smaller paddock but I'm not sure why.

One of the male polar bears seemed to have an injury on his back. However I overheard a keeper saying that is was an abscess which burst.

The okapi calf is doing well and is getting quite big now.

Only no shows today was the ostrich and Bush dogs

Also something to add is that there is lots of work going on as u enter the zoo just on the right. A path has been constructed from the experience Ethiopia area along side the lake.

From what I can remember yesterday there were some fences up and lots of soil mounds there was also a small island. I didn't take too much notice if I am honest

the camels will probably (but not sure) be
Baxter the male alone
Darcey Elizabeth and another female with babies olive and Lilibet in the group of five
And then I’m guessing the other 2 are Merlin and Marvin with we’re born in 2020 or 2021 to darcey and elizebeth aswell

the polar bear was sisu he had a absus on his back so had it removed and it still isn’t fully healed yet

Anyone know if the sea lions are being allowed to breed as now their is 3 males and only the two female mums plus the dad Dominic!
