On December 31st, the zoo announced that its CEO Randy Wisthoff has retired and is now the executive director of the Kansas City Zoo Foundation starting January 1st, 2022.

Other 2022 News:

On March 11th, the zoo announced that due to avian influenza, their trumpeter swans, cranes (red-crowned/African crowned), storks (yellow-billed/saddle-billed), and flamingos are off exhibit. On May 20th, the zoo announced that all but the trumpeter swans have returned to their exhibits. On June 3rd, the zoo announced the trumpeter swans have returned to their exhibit.

On May 17th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) Arapawa goat named Buttons was born on May 15th.

On May 23rd, the zoo announced that another (0.1) Arapawa goat was born on May 21st. On June 1st, the zoo announced her name, Sirius.
