The zoo is reopening July 2, but only through free pre-booked guided tours of the zoo area in July and August. You can book on their website only if you are a resident of the Peterborough Public Health region.

The zoo had a unexpected moment as well when a takin broke into a neighboring exhibit. He was tranquilized and returned home.

Upgrades are being completed on the lynx, serval and Bactrian camel habitats. Looks like for the lynx and serval they are getting glass viewing areas. Not sure whats happening with the camels.
 
On May 10th, it was announced that the zoo transferred (1.1.1) red-necked wallabies named Wallace, Florence, and The Machine to the Toronto Zoo in Ontario.

There has been several acts of vandalism at the zoo over the last few weeks, including damage to the train and the theft of the 50 year old brass train bell.

On May 12th, the zoo announced they received a $25,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Peterborough Kawartha for the funding of a new train in 2023.

On May 21st, the zoo announced that a storm came in and knocked down several trees throughout the zoo, though no animals/staff were injured. The facility opened a couple days later.

On April 5th, the zoo announced that it was raising funds for improvements towards the slender-tailed meerkat exhibit, including a new screened structure, enhanced glass viewing areas, and meerkat-friendly planting/landscaping, among other changes.
