The calf born to mum Lady and dad Miller is the third calf born at the zoo in the last few years. Addax antelope are Critically Endangered and there are estimated to be less than 100 individuals left in the wild in Chad and Niger. The small herd at Flamingo Land are part of the European breeding programme, EEP. #flamingoland #addax #babyanimal #newarrival #addaxantelope"
The last two (Copper and Tuppelo) went to Blair Drummond Safari Park in 2012.Anyone know where the chimpanzees from flamingo land went? I know it was decades ago but I never thought about it
Thanks, I wish they had some sort of apes there, but also saying that I wish they improved on the zoo more than the theme park hahaThe last two (Copper and Tuppelo) went to Blair Drummond Safari Park in 2012.
It will be nice to hopefully see the pitter patter of little hippo feet, is anything new joining the zoo for 2023?Regarding the hippos I have spoken to a colleague who works at Flamingo Land and when I asked then space is need for breeding and he said "yes it’s correct a breeding male has arrived to join our resident female"![]()
The new bull is probably from Whipsnade, either twenty-one-year-old Hoover or his son, five-year-old Hodor. If not from Whipsnade, Flamingo Land's new bull is from outside of the country.Regarding the hippos I have spoken to a colleague who works at Flamingo Land and when I asked then space is need for breeding and he said "yes it’s correct a breeding male has arrived to join our resident female"![]()

Are they building a new one? They will need to have moved to the new Hippo enclosure before that happens.
Are they building a new one?
That’s cool, I wonder where the hippos are going to goyes it’s in the planning to be done. Current exhibit not considered ideal for breeding. Done a keeper experience earlier in the year and the keeper said then they were getting a new male and they will be getting a new exhibit in the future
At the bottom of where the hippos are is the new flamingo exhibit , which is where bristols flamingos are going. Not sure if finished yet or if AI has affected it
