Monterey Bay Aquarium Major deep sea animal exhibit coming to MBA

Does anyone know of Blobfish on display anywhere? Aquamarine’s website says that they aren’t on display.

Besides Aquamarine Fukushima, no aquarium has kept Psychrolutes marcidus/phrictus (I don't know which species Aquamarine's specimen is). Smaller blobfish species like Ebinania brephocephala have been kept at a few places in Japan, I saw one at Osaka Aquarium, and I believe Numazu Deepsea Aquarium may have/have had them too.

Were you able to see the roughy or the arbiter snailfish?

So far from what I've seen, the Abyssal Comb Jellies (Beroe Abyssicola) are the only new additions and the Snow Globe Jellies (Modeeria Rotunda) are the only animals that have been swapped out. Not sure why though. Maybe we'll see another one soon?

Something pretty cool that just got brought up: These Phyllosoma (Lobster Larvae, mainly Slipper Lobster Larvae iirc) are on display with the Mauve Stingers. Not sure if they get that color from the Mauve Stingers but that's something super interesting and something to look out for next time

Oh interesting! I don't believe many aquariums have ever displayed Phyllosoma, so it's very cool that MBA has them on display!

There are now two individual elephant fish in the whalefall tank.

I got bored so I came up with a list off the top of my head of achievements the exhibit has already broke within it's first month and some weeks of being open:

-First to display Bloody Belly Comb Jellies
-First to display Snow Globe Jellies
-First to display and culture Common Siphonophore
-First to display Red Paper Lantern Jelly
-First to display the Red X Comb Jellies
-Not sure about the Sea Angels but they look like a different species than Clione Limacina so maybe a first too?

-First to display many of the coral species
-First to display this undescribed species of Fire / Orange Brisingid Star
-First to display a lot of the deep-sea coral species on display
-First to display Snakehead Eelpouts
-First to display Venus Fly Trap Anemones
-First to display Arbiter Snailfish
-First to display Salmon Snailfish in US
-First to display Osedax (I heard there was a species in Japan but theres multiple in the MBA tank and no one can exactly ID what they are)
-First to display Pom Pom Anemone
-First to display that species of sea spider in the US

-Still the only aquarium I believe to display Predatory Tunicates, Droopy Sea Pen. Feather Stars, and a few other things I believe in the Muddy Bottom Tank.

maybe he is referring to the specific species of sea spider? Also feather stars have been kept at the aquarium of the pacific.
