Roger Williams Park Zoo Roger Williams Park Zoo News 2022

Or, penguins could make a comeback! Humboldts might make the cut given the zoo's history with them.
If penguins are the choice, I'd say go with Africans since the habitat is right near the giraffes and other African species. The only reason I wouldn't pick them is that I'm not sure there's enough land area for a good penguin exhibit, but I definitely wouldn't be complaining!

My family actually made a donation to help fix the harbor seal exhibit and we got a letter in the mail letting us know what was going on. I got this a week or so ago but it wasn’t announced publicly so I didn’t want to say anything

I also know the changes being made from my coworkers but I don't think I can share it publically. But needless to say, the stuff off exhibit right now is mostly the stuff that had issues.

Fair enough.

That's very interesting regarding the lizard, I'm a little surprised if that is indeed the correct identification. I've just never heard of that species being kept as opposed to others.

-A new 'mini faces of the rainforest' is open where Shades of Nature was located (the greenhouse) with Brazilian Porcupine, Sloth, White Faced Whistling Duck and Blue Throated Piping Guan

I didn't realize this on first read, but just came back here and realized- this news also means that prehensile-tailed Porcupines have returned to the zoo! I know this species left at some point, good to hear that they're back!

Can the Reptiles Rock animals be viewed outside of the showtimes or do they physically bring them out? Like do they have a temporary set-up where the animals can be viewed outside of the show?

Yes there’s a tent outside of World of Adaptations with viewing during all regular zoo hours. The presentation simply has some of the handlers talk about some of the animals and show them off a bit more.

On May 20th, the zoo announced they have added a new sandpit and mud kitchen areas in Hasbro's Big Backyard section (which if you know what they were originally going to do with the big backyard area, the only word to describe it would be PAIN).
