Recently a Purple honeycreeper (Cyanerpes caeruleus) hatched.

On the 16th of April 2 Collared peccary (Pecari tajacu) were born.

In March a pair of Luzon bleeding-hearts (Gallicolumba luzonica) arrived.

Recently 10-year old male Nepalese red panda (Ailurus fulgens) Liam arrived from Zoo Praha, he will be paired with the already present female Uma. The other female named Ambu was send to Safaripark Beekse Bergen.

In March a pair of Luzon bleeding-hearts (Gallicolumba luzonica) arrived.

Apparently, even two couples of bleeding-hearts arrived, one is in an aviary next to the bird-house, the other basically behind the scenes in the winter house.

Besides, another new addition not officially announced are eight tomato frogs (Dyscophus antongilii), of which at least one can be seen in the terrarium.

At the start of the year, the female white-rumped shama (Copsychus malabaricus) had left the zoo to an unknown location, it was the daughter of the male that's been left. Now, he was paired with a new female.

And another addition: A pair of Edward's pheasant that had been in the quarantine station since december (they started breeding there, but no eggs hatched), now live together with the kookaburras.

The new exhibit for the red pandas is basically finished, but the plants are given more time to grow. The red-crowned cranes that were supposed to be joining them will stay in their current exhibit near the bird house, since they are doing well there. Instead, the zoo plans with tufted deer now (which I'm actually looking forward to, sounds promising), but since not many zoos keep them it is unclear when they can get them, Wuppertal is now basically on a "waiting list" for the EEP.

Absolutely amazing news, assuming it’s not an April fools day joke, two asian golden cats have been born, after being conceived via artificial insemination! A little male and female have recently been born according to the zoo, to mother “Cat-Ba”.

This is absolutely phenomenal news for the European population has been stagnating with no births for the past several years.

The young Asian golden cats are doing fine!
The male has been given the name Koshi and the female Tila.

Small correction: Bhagya was male. The leopard left is his sister.

Sadly 20-year old female South-east Asian golden cat (Catopuma temminckii temminckii) Feline was recently euthanised. She suffered from a bladder tumor and her condition worsened a few days prior to her death. Feline was born in Zoo Wuppertal on 23rd of May 2002, she raised a total of 6 young together with her partner Jakarta. Zoo Wuppertal now only has 1 adult female (mother of the two young), a young male and a young female left. They currently live behind the scenes, but will eventually move to the small predator house.

Sad news. Not many left now. :( Another small correction though: They might move to the carnivore house when they're older, not the small predator (=cat) house.
