My name is Callado, I'm from Rio, but I live in João Pessoa, PB, in the northeast region o Brazil.

I'm don't go to zoos very often like I used to when I was a kid. I prefer going birdwatching in the wild, but I still go to the zoo like two times a year or something.
I also like to visit zoos in other places whenever I have the chance.

There is very little information on the zoos from Brazil on Zoochat, so I figure I could help with that a little.

Your area is not very rich with zoos but blessed for birding. As I bird quite a lot in Brazil, I would be happy to read or see pictures of your adventures and places you've been able to visit!

It is! I have the pleasure to live in the Pernambuco Endemism Center, so we have quite a few endemic species in here. On the down side, the Atlantic Forest in here is extremely fragmented. All we have is patches of forest surrounded by cane plantation.

As a Brazilian member myself, it's great to have another contributor from our great country to add and share info. I have a considerable amount of media added on my gallery here, from the zoological istitutions I've visited, mostly in Brazil, and I would be happy if you found it interesting to check them out, in case you haven't visited some of the zoos I have covered.

Do let me know what are your general impressions of the zoos you have visited around our vast lands. It's always great to listen to different opinions. Have you visited even more zoos than Rio, Bica, Recife and Natal Aquarium?

Yep, let's go on this ride, since I was a child.
I have visited RioZoo hundreds of times, but not once after the renovation.
Also in Rio, I went to Niterói Zoo (now closed) and Bwana Park (closed in the early 2000's). Bwana was interesting cause it had quite a few animal that I couldn't see in RioZoo, such as Crested Porcupine, Fennec and Kangaroos.

As a teenager I visited São Paulo Zoo and Simba Safari (now Safari Park) in São Paulo. Zoo de Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais. Beto Carrero World, in Santa Catarina. I also went to Parque das Aves, in Foz do Iguaçu - Paraná.

Bica I visited many times since I was a teen and living in João Pessoa. Recife and Aquario de Natal I have visited already in my adult life.

Now, traveling outside of Brazil, I have visited, as a child, Busch Gardens in Florida. As an adult I have visited in Lisboa both the zoo and Oceanario, and London, the Zoo and the Aquarium too.

Very nice list indeed. I'm particularly curious about Bwana park, as very little can be found about it online. What were your thoughts on that place? Do you happen to have any pictures from your visits?
