Which countries have you visited?

Did you see actualy Lifers at airports ?

Yes, at Johannesburg airport on the way to Botswana we had a quite a long stopover and found that there was a viewing area over the tarmac that was quite productive for birds (Mountain Wheatear, Cape Sparrow, and Cape Wagtail were the lifers - all of which I've still never seen elsewhere).

But the column in question includes all the countries I've seen a bird in, not just the first, and outside Europe it splits it by trip as well - so there are other cases where I've stopped off and had a bird sighting that needs accounting for as well.

Only two at the moment

United States of America
South Africa

I had a five-hour stop in Paris waiting to transfer flights back home from South Africa, but I never left the airport.

I'll probably make it to Canada in the relatively near future, but other than that I don't see myself traveling much outside North America.

Haven't posted in this thread for eight years and realised there are a couple more I can add. The latest in bold:

It occurs to me that I have not posted in this thread since 2014, when I first added a country (Germany) to my total :p so here is the current total, with the year and month of addition alongside each country.

United Kingdom (birth country)
Germany (April 2014)
Austria (April 2015)
Czechia (June 2017)
Netherlands (February 2018)
Belgium (February 2018)
Spain (February 2019)
Portugal (February 2019)
Poland (September 2019)

With a "passage on train" honorary mention to France in July 2019 :p

Were it not for COVID interrupting plans in March 2020 at the last minute, and rendering more long-term plans for summer 2020 impossible, my total would now include five other countries plus an additional passage country.... but I'm hoping to knock at least some of these off before too much time elapses.

This is one of those threads that might be entitled ‘how wealthy/privileged are you?’
Not necessary I would say. You don't need to be too wealthy to visit a lot of places and there are a ton of people just fine with staying their whole life in USA.

Here's my boring list:
Japan
South Korea
Malaysia
Singapore
China
(Taiwan)
(Hong Kong)
(Macau)

My list is limited to european and middle eastern countries.
Although i hope to visit more places in the future especially east africa or australia because of the amazing nature and wildlife.
Sweden (birth country)
Estonia
Latvia
Russia
Croatia
Poland
Spain
Greece
Turkey
Jordan
Egypt
United kingdom
Finland

Turkey (grew up there, :| I traveled to many corners of the country however)
USA (I have relatives there so I have been to a few visits before I went there for college)
France (A trip that happened after my dad remarried, tends to get in the back of my mind)
Netherlands (A trip so great that I tried to pretend being dead to avoid returning to Turkey.)
Belgium (First visit was to Bruge during the Netherlands visit. The second was during the Germany trip.)
Germany (The main purpose was Zoo berlin and Cologne zoo. I didn't know about Tierpark Berlin so I didn't plan about that either.)
Switzerland (Went there to participate for a choir festival)
Greece (For some reason the one place in Turkey where I could take a GED test [laugh all you want and call me an ignoramus idc (I lied I am sort of insecure about it)] did not respond to me and my mom when we tried to contact them. Athens was still nice however)
Japan (I never knew it would have happened)

Waited in UAE for hours for a transfer flight.
Okay new additions:
Hungary
Austria
Czechia

Update from me
U.K.
U.S.A

I was wondering what made you visit Turkey four times.

When I was younger I loved backpacking around Europe (I would go for a few months each year during European summer), and Turkey was one of my favourite countries there so I kept going back. Two of those four trips just involved a few days in Istanbul, but I travelled around more in the other two visits.

I intend to go to Turkey again at some point as I haven’t been to Cappadocia or the Black Sea coast of Turkey.

I’ve been to Istanbul, Edirne, Ephesus, Fetiye, Butterfly Valley and Iludinez. So there is a lot more that I haven’t seen yet!

Your list and mine are remarkably similar! Which country will #37 be?

Never posted in this thread but here goes!

  • United Kingdom (Where I am from! Lived in England and Wales, visited Scotland twice)
  • Spain (5 visits, including to Lanzarote in the Canaries. Rest were typical holiday resort locations on the mainland or once in Majorca)
  • France (2 visits - Paris and the northeast)
  • Cuba (2 visits - Went across a decent chunk of the western side of the island including Havana and the Zapata Swamp)
  • Belgium (Visited on the same trip as the French northeast)
  • United States (Specifically Florida)
  • Greece (Corfu and the mainland)
  • Albania (day trip from Corfu!)
  • Germany (my first ever foreign trip where zoos were a major factor, Berlin of course!)
  • Mexico (Cancun/Yucatan area to be specific)
  • Switzerland (Zurich!!)
Not sure what the near future holds :p COVID has gotten in the way of my plans to get to Czechia multiple times at this point (though maybe it's worth the wait now with those pangolins ;)). Also hoping to return to the lowlands at some point to add the Netherlands to my list but that will have to wait! And somehow I haven't visited Ireland yet despite being so close

@Fallax Funnily enough, despite how relatively-limited your travels have been, you've still visited seven countries I have not!

And somehow I haven't visited Ireland yet despite being so close

Not I, if this is much compensation!

Hello dear zoochatters,
I am Nikola Chavkoski from Prilep, North Macedonia. I was member here until August 2017, with another profile that time. Since then, I have visited several countries; It also happened to live in Germany for 3 years, but frankly enough, I didn't visited any zoo there other than Berlin zoo. In the meantime, I loved my life devoted to travel, and some private investment.
I still love zoos and wild animals. I had a plan for a zoo and I still have it; Since then, I have purchased more land adjacent to what I had previously and I want to go ahead with an architectonic plan for a construction permit for a small zoo, initialy for enclosures for tigers or lions, or leopards and an enclosure for some non-human primates like for siamangs.
But to return to the main topic of this thread, since August 2017, I have visited the following countries (and some of their zoos):

North Macedonia
Serbia
Greece
Bulgaria
Croatia
Bosnia & Herzegovina
Slovakia
Czech Republic
Hungary
Austria
Germany (2015, 2017, 2019-2022)
France
Switzerland
Spain (including Canary Islands)
Romania

Turkiye (Turkey)
China (Shanghai) and Taiwan (2019)
Singapore (2019, 2022)
Japan (transit Yokohama-Tokio's Narita) (2019)

Tanzania (2020)

Maldives (transit) (2021)
Sri Lanka (2021)

Thailand (2022)
United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi)
India (transit 2 days, Chennai and Kochi) (2022)
Malaysia (penninsular, Sabah and Sarawak) (2022)
Oman (Muscat Airport)
Israel

I have also sailed trough South China Sea - spectacular.

And a plan for must-visit: Indonesia, Kenya (I had failed attempt at airport due to non possesion of E-visa), Uganda, United States of America and Australia, and some other countries.

Kind regards, fellow zoo-lovers
